I find it a little creepy…being followed, you know. I’ve never been a Twitter /Insta or whatever user and on Reddit I had it disabled.

It was actually a huge problem for trans people on Reddit at one point, people would be mass followed by users with dysphoria inducing and triggering names, and they had to add a feature to turn off the ability for people to follow you (which for the first while could only be done with the official app, for some reason).

On Mastodon Misskey and Hubzilla you can make private only so you have to accept follower. Might be in the works but not priority. You can toggle not to show your follows so people can’t harass your follow.Same with Magazine.
