Update 1/16 - Adblock has informed BleepingComputer that its engineers fixed the problem and released ABP 3.22.1 and AB 5.17.1 on the Opera and Edge extension stores. The same versions are currently in review on the Mozilla and Chrome add-on stores, and should be made available soon.

I thought we moved to uBlock Origin several years ago…
Otter ( @otter@lemmy.ca ) English35•6 months agoIt’s always fun when I can recommend something better to friends, especially when the new thing requires no new compromises
Adblock plus --> uBlock Origin
LastPass --> Bitwarden
uTorrent --> qBitorrent

Sorry - smugness isn’t nice. But I don’t know why people are still trying to use Youtube directly, when there are clearly much better options.
mub ( @mub@lemmy.ml ) 5•6 months agoiPhone users don’t have the option of a convenient app, though I understand brave browser can work. Either way android users have an easier time blocking ads then Iphone users. I pay for YouTube family so my kids and the TV can avoid ads.

mctoasterson ( @mctoasterson@reddthat.com ) 3•6 months agoI can attest it is very weird. The entire browser slows down on transition to full screen (lags like your machine has a virus or something) and introduces a buffer wheel of lag after the first 10 or so seconds of every video.
