As long as we can remove it from the sidebar, like Discover and the other stuff, then I’m fine I guess.
To be honest we need more competitors in the mediaserver space. Jellyfin is awesome, and has the core essentials laid down - just needs more clients, and a bit more love given to music libraries. Plexamp features like the sonic analysis and virtual DJ don’t have an equivalent in any other audio streamer (except Spotify which of course is not self hosted)

I’m trying so hard to go just jellyfin. Girlfriend says the songs through jellyfin sucks but plexamp was awesome even though they were the same music!

I couldn’t get either player to work properly for my music. Ended up setting up Navidrome via Docker on my UnRaid server, with DSub player on Android.

If you haven’t yet, try Finamp. It handles music a lot better than the normal Jellyfin client.
That said, I just run Navidrome alongside for music. Only takes a few minutes to set up, and it’s pretty lightweight.

Need android auto support unfortunately. I’ll look into novidrome though

They still haven’t fixed issues with Sync/Downloads/[whatever they renamed it to this week]!
I don’t regret my Lifetime sub purchase, but I have already set up Jellyfin on the same server and am actively evaluating it as a full-time replacement.

I recently used the Plex video on demand with ads to watch the show Highlander. It was ok at first but then I noticed that the amount and length of ads increased. Eventually I gave up and just hoisted the flag so I could watch the rest of the series without the ads. I don’t think I will bother watching another Plex supplied advertisement.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Plex, known for its media server software and as a place to watch ad-supported content, is going to launch a store for to buy and rent movies and TV shows in early February, executives told Lowpass’ Janko Roettgers.
“Most studios” are lined up for the store’s launch, and there are “plans to complete the catalog soon after,” Roettgers says.
The new store will mark a major addition for Plex, especially following the company’s layoff of 20 percent of its staff in June 2023.
At the time, the company’s CEO told staffers that Plex’s ad business had been “significantly impacted” by a downturn in global advertising markets, but chief product officer Scott Olechowski told Roettgers that its ad business is growing.
Olechowski said that the company has a “pretty major UX refresh” in the works to help support the many people using Plex to watch ad-supported movies and TV shows and FAST (free, ad-supported streaming) channels.
(Roettgers says that Plex updated some of the feature’s onboarding processes, and Plex senior product and design director Jason Williams told him that the backlash “kind of vanished pretty quickly afterwards.”)
