Kusimulkku ( @Kusimulkku@lemm.ee ) English26•4 months agoI mean they are people who were approved for studying in Ukraine. It’s not like things are calming down in Ukraine any time soon so makes sense they’d be looking to go home? Maybe I misunderstood the situation.
crispy_kilt ( @crispy_kilt@feddit.de ) English5•4 months agoWhy not simply let them continue their studies in Europe. An unfinished degree is completely useless.
Kusimulkku ( @Kusimulkku@lemm.ee ) English6•4 months agoI guess they could apply for that. But it’s not like EU owes them a degree or something before sending them home. It’s a shitty situation for them for sure.
Microw ( @Microw@lemm.ee ) English1•4 months agoThe problem is that at least from what I know, they can not apply for that. EU countries don’t let people from most African countries study in the EU, there are wide blank bans in place.
Kusimulkku ( @Kusimulkku@lemm.ee ) English2•4 months agoI mean if they’re not eligible for any student programs in the EU then they’ll probably have to go home.
Microw ( @Microw@lemm.ee ) English1•4 months agoYes. It just feels wrong that we allow ukrainian students of ukrainian universities to stay, but gave all other students of Ukrainian universities a random time period and they cant finish their studies.
Kusimulkku ( @Kusimulkku@lemm.ee ) English2•4 months agoUkraine is at war. It’s not the same.
Microw ( @Microw@lemm.ee ) English1•4 months agoAgain: all of them are studying at Ukrainian universities. All of them could go to Ukraine and finish the studies there. Or finish their studies in Europe.
The EU makes the distinctive choice to let certain students stay and not let other students stay.
sic_1 ( @sic_1@feddit.de ) English2•4 months agoHow about they contribute studying in Europe? It’s not like we don’t need skilled workers over here…
Kusimulkku ( @Kusimulkku@lemm.ee ) English8•4 months agoI’m sure they could apply for that
Zacryon ( @Zacryon@feddit.de ) English14•4 months agoMeanwhile, the german minister of finances is desperately trying to attract students from Ghana to work in Germany.
Anekdoteles ( @Anekdoteles@feddit.de ) English7•4 months agoAs somebody who doesn’t own a major company it’s usually a very bad idea to agree with anything Christian Lindner wants.
WallEx ( @WallEx@feddit.de ) English12•4 months agoThis is utter bullshit.
