smeg ( @smeg@feddit.uk ) English3•3 months agoI assumed ESO was already F2P, apparently not! Is it actually any good to play?
CALIGVLA ( @Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English5•3 months agoDon’t expect it to be anything like the traditional TES games, it’s an MMO through and through just with a Skyrim coat of paint. I say this because I got the game for cheap some time ago out of curiosity to see more of Tamriel and I still got disappointed.
smeg ( @smeg@feddit.uk ) English1•3 months agoSo do you still need to play heavily with a group of friends to get anything out of it, or can you play it solo?
Rudee ( @Rudee@lemmy.ml ) English3•3 months agoThe overworld can be done entirely solo with a storyline for each of the three factions, but you can also partner up with friends ad hoc if you’d like.
The content that’s specifically multiplayer is the dungeons (4-man or 12-man), but you can queue for the former and people will zone chat to organise the latter
CALIGVLA ( @Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English2•3 months agoI didn’t really play for long so I’m not really the best to answer that, but from my limited play time I remember being a decent amount of solo content (your usual fetch quests and whatnot, everything voice acted which is really nice considering it’s an MMO) but there’s also content that requires a party like dungeons and stuff, the game has your usual tank/healer/dps framework so you really can’t escape it.
Montagge ( @Montagge@lemmy.zip ) English2•3 months agoIt’s B2P with an optional premium sub. Probably one of the better ones to use that system. I enjoy it!
blindsight ( @blindsight@beehaw.org ) English2•3 months agoThey’re out of keys now, FYI.
Daxtron2 ( @Daxtron2@startrek.website ) English2•3 months agoI remember the first play test of ESO where it really was just a multiplayer Skyrim combat game and I really enjoyed it but they switched directions and leaned more heavily into MMO. Clearly it’s worked in their favor but I do wonder what could’ve been.
I haven’t tried it, but the Skyrim Together mod looks interesting.
Daxtron2 ( @Daxtron2@startrek.website ) English2•3 months agoI have! It’s a ton of fun but can definitely be glitchy, especially with other mods. Still recommend trying it out.
