Hey everyone,
We’re coming up on a year anniversary (I think) of this community and I thought I’d do some giveaways to celebrate that.
It’s semi-annoying that not all game stores have digital gift cards you can purchase so there are a few options here.
- Amazon digital gift card: for those of you who buy physical games
- Physical Steam gift card: the slowest option, as it requires me to leave my house and buy a stamp and mail something (the horror).
- Gifted game directly in Steam / GOG.com
For the gifted games / gift cards it’ll be capped at $30 – after all, we’re talking about old games here right? If you want a few games that total up to $30, that’s cool too.
I’m going to pick two members at random from those who reply here as the winners.
Just comment with what option you prefer, and ideally tell us about what game you’d like to get (I’d prefer to limit the low-effort comments if we can. I like the discussions people have here so please do try to comment more than just “#1” ).
I’ll sticky this post and will leave it open for 2 weeks (end of April is the deadline)
Thanks for keeping this community a cool place with good discussions!
UPDATE 4/30/24:
This contest is officially over!
The 2 randomly chosen winnders are:
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz
@Dymonika@beehaw.org
Congrats!
I will be messaging you both individually to get your email addresses or steam/gog usernames so I can gift you your games!
Thanks again to everyone again for keeping this place going!

I don’t want to enter as I have a big enough backlog as it is, but I wanted to say congrats on reaching a year!!
Thanks!
It’s more like thanks to everyone who has been posting and commenting in the last year and keeping the tone/mood of this place chill, inviting and friendly, which is all I wanted.
Hey thanks for making the deadline so long, feels in tune with how Lemmy functions (In the off chance I win, roll the dice again)

(Direct steam gift is more than fine)
Project Zomboid. Big zombie fan, but somehow never ended up with the game. However (given I’m old af) I still remember the day the dev announced his laptop or whatever with all the code for the game on it had been lost or stolen, back in its real early dev days. Amazing the game was ever able to come out, let alone I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about it.
And ty for the giveaway! <3

That game is one of my favorites. I have over a thousand hours in it. Good choice!

This is fun! Been thinking of trying out Persona 4 or 5 as I’ve heard great things about the series in general, but never ended up taking the plunge. I’m sure there are other games from my wishlist I’d also like, but I’m not at my computer right now.
I’d probably do option #3, if I were to win. Best of luck, everyone!

I’d really like to try Subnautica. I love survival games and my gf has been trying to get me to try it but I have never really gotten around it. Steam gift would be great. Thank you!
- maxprime ( @maxprime@lemmy.ml ) English3•7 months ago
Steam!
I would buy (and play) the heck out of Stray.
- Qkall ( @Qkall@lemmy.ml ) English2•7 months ago
Aye, I’ve always seen these things and never have a chance… Maybe that changes today
Edit - didn’t realize I should mention a game. I’ve been eyeing fallout 4 for modding and it’s hecking cheap atm
- Jeraxus ( @Jeraxus@lemmy.sdf.org ) English2•6 months ago
Foretales, I always enjoyed card games and the aesthetic really attracted me, actually it’s in my wishlist since the game was released and I managed to not get spoiled (or just a little bit).
I choose the direct gift in gog.
(2 day before the giveaway’s end, I guess I’m also a patient scroller)
- I Cast Fist ( @ICastFist@programming.dev ) English2•7 months ago
If I’m picked, I’d like Bug Fables, GOG version 😄 - This bad boy’s been sitting on my wishlist forever and looks like a truly lovely game.
I would ask for X4, but it only gets under 30 dollars when on sale, and only the base game. It has 4 expansions now, so I’ll probably buy the complete edition later this year. Besides, I still have to give Rebel Galaxy and other space games a first try. please don’t ask about the rest of my backlog

Physical steam.
I’ve been waiting on a lot of windows games I could never play, but I’m planning on getting a steam deck sometime soon.
- Naboo_calls_for_aid ( @Naboo_calls_for_aid@sopuli.xyz ) English2•7 months ago
That’s really cool! I’m knee deep in BG3, but if I were to get something, it’d be ff9 on steam, haven’t played it in probably 20 years. See how it hits now as an adult.
- Pulptastic ( @Pulptastic@midwest.social ) English2•7 months ago
Option 1. I am a console gamer and have been itching to play Pokemon Legends Arceus. Price hasn’t come down much… but that seems to be how Nintendo rolls.
- darko8472 ( @darko8472@feddit.uk ) English2•7 months ago
Wouldn’t mind a direct game gift on steam! Been playing a few games my wife owns, mostly Power Wash Simulator, but would be good to be able to play when she’s using her library!
- Dymonika ( @Dymonika@beehaw.org ) English2•6 months ago
This is very nice of you to do, thanks. I might use it on Dream Quest (2014), which is little-known as the predecessor to Slay the Spire, so probably #3, but any way would probably do.
EDIT: Wow, thank you so much!!!
- Slyder ( @Slyder@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English2•7 months ago
Thanks for doing this! I’d go with either Stray or Immortals Fenyx Rising for Steam. I’ve been hoping to try both of those out for a while now.
