He’s been very up and down for me. I don’t even mean that about his booking, because I feel like most of the time he’s been treated well and the times things have fallen off it’s been stuff outside his control that hurt him. It’s just that there’s been times where he hits his pose at the top of the ramp and I was excited to see him and other times where my reaction was, “Yeah, you’re Ricky Starks and that’s your pose.” And then I wondered why it was growing stale for me already for no real reason.
Hopefully whenever he does return or wherever he goes next, I can have that “hell yeah, it’s Ricky Starks!” reaction again.
Yeah I’m the same.

The working with Jericho effect lol
I feel bad for Ricky. It seems like every time he gets momentum something happens, usually out of his control, that ruins everything.
I think at this point TK probably assumes he’s out once his contract is over so he figures why bother.

I can’t see Ricky doing well in WWE. I know he’s a Punk and Cody guy so maybe they can figure something out for him.
Agreed, but if he’s gonna flounder in WWE or flounder in AEW, I won’t blame him for going for the bag with his boys lol.

I could definitely see him doing well in NXT. But I haven’t watched NXT since “tHe fIrSt ever fAtAl 4WaY iRon mAn MatcH” that didn’t even have a winner, so I don’t know dick about current NXT.
I dipped out of NXT the night they switched from NXT Gold™ to NXT Joseph’s Technicolour Dreamcoat™ and never gave them another thought lmao. I know like 2 people on the current NXT product and that’s solely cause of WrestleMania weekend lol.

To me, it’s felt like he has one foot out the door since Cody left. He talks about Cody a lot, and I get it, Cody’s his mentor and friend. It didn’t seem to help him much his gimmick grew stale and he didn’t seem to change it up, and whether that is on him or not, I couldn’t tell you, but I’ve seen others in AEW change up their gimmicks, specifically I’m enjoying the massive change in Jungle Jack.
Anyway… ending my rambling, it looks like he wants to follow Cody, and if I can see that, TK can probably see that and I don’t blame him for not pushing him to the moon or bringing him back if his contract is up soon. I say that as someone who really thought he was going to blow up a couple of years ago.
I’m enjoying the massive change in Jungle Jack.
Which if I heard the JR/Conrad video I saw yesterday correctly, JR is responsible for that change, smart man.
But yeah I pretty much agree. He’s clocked out and coasting it feels like. I had high hopes, but he seems to just wanna coast.
I know it’s not as relevant to the discussion but I tend to feel the same when it comes to wrestlers who just do nothing when they aren’t booked. Ricky could be (in his AEW downtime) hitting the indies, pulling in some extra cash, increasing his profile. Doing something to make TK go “Hmm…maybe I can do something with him…” but since joining AEW Starks has taken 2-4 indie bookings period. He doesn’t need to and shouldn’t feel like he has to of course, but if you’re just sitting at home letting yourself rust and get forgotten about then it’s definitely not gonna make your booker think better of you. It’s not WWE where you ‘can’t’ take outside bookings, do something Ricky lol.
