Bing bong.
Arghblarg ( @Arghblarg@lemmy.ca ) English7•1 month agoWow, too much consolidation.
Duckduckgo, how far you’ve fallen. :(
onlinepersona ( @onlinepersona@programming.dev ) English2•1 month agoEcosia, I can understand. Their point isn’t being private or anything, it’s planting trees. Bing has better pricing, so they went for them.
Duckduckgo, Startpage, Qwant, and a bunch of other ones though… they talk about having their own indices, own infra and what-not, but yesterday just proved they are a bing proxy. We need a real, decentralised or at least federated alternative. YaCy would be one, but for some reason these bing-proxies didn’t want that or decide to work together on an alternative.
Elise ( @xilliah@beehaw.org ) English1•1 month agoI was forced to use Google. I typed ‘mc’ for minecraft and all of the autocompletes were corpo. Half of them a fast food restaurant. Kinda funny where two letters can lead you.
