I have been playing the Souls games since Dark Souls, back in the day on the XBox 360. The Invader mechanic was always a nice touch to the game, most of the people tried to have a fair fight or at least they tried to fight you.
But now, since the DLC, all invaders we get are people trying to lure you to dragons or in a boss room or into another group of enemies because they only understand their L2 button smashing build and can’t figure out how to fight properly without abusing some mechanic. Yesterday three people tried to one-shot me with the (thankfully now fixed) Perfumer Bottle Ash of war. Today someone started to shoot at me from afar with a canon and just ran away until he had enough help to finally kill me and my friend. It is just so damn boring going against one trick ponys… Where are the fair fights? Where are the manners? Where are the skillfull invaders that show me how a weapon is used beyond its ash of war?
It is so frustrating, i loved getting invaded in base Elden Ring, always tried to have 1:1 fights with fairness for both sides. But this now is just dumb.
Thank you for reading my rant.

In Dark souls 1 did invaders not invade you to attack you at range while you were dodging traps in Sens Fortress, or try to lure you to the Darkroot Garden ladder to kick you off of it, or block the archer path in Anor Londo, or shoot you off the bridge in Oolacile Township, or move swap a rapier with the dragon tooth, or dead angle WOG you, or TWOP you, or DMB Power within R1 spam you, or etc, etc, etc?
If they lure you, don’t follow them. If they range you, use a shield, dodge, stand behind a tree, move in a zig zag. You’re the host, they have to come to you to get what they’re there for if you make them.
Maybe i did not have this many bad interactions in DS 1 - 3. At least it was less L2 Spam with some endgame weapon. Sure there was the occasional invader that was overpowered but the majority was fighting on common ground. Nowadays it seems like who can press L2 mlrw often and tank ghe hits.

I boot up my favorite game after a long day of work. As I play I am invaded by another player. They are joining my game for one reason. To end my life.
Then to my surprise, they attacked me! Don’t they know how this is supposed to be done?! There are rules for duels in a civilized world! And this bastard is using a ranged weapon! They don’t understand how I want to be attacked at all! It’s almost as if they have fun in a way that I don’t enjoy!
It’s that simple really, there are people that did not enjoy pvp until these changes you hate. Sometimes a game will come out in a franchise that you don’t like, and that is okay.
I like the game. It is one of the best ones out there. You did not get my point at all but thats okay.

Than your complaint is with the players the game has attracted? Because the guy that shot at you with a cannon and kept running from you until they could kill you, sounds to me like the best fight you’ve had yet.
Is your problem with the fact you need to chase them? Cause you don’t need to?
Is your problem that they invade you? Because you can turn that off.
Is your problem that some people do not have fun in the same type of fights you do? Because they are following all of the rules that are set within the game for an invasion. So I ask, do you like this game? You can play without the dlc can’t you? You could play a past souls born as well if you liked invasions better there.
How can i turn invasions of if i want to play in coop with a friend?

Those are invaders. They force yourself into your world to kill you. There is no honor in it. Honor has nothing to do with it.
You want honor than duel. Invading is for people who want to fuck with you or want to take something from you.
Expecting that they don’t use anything they can to kill you is simply naïve.

Pvp was definitely an afterthought unfortunately. It was also my favorite part of previous souls games
Sadly yes.
