The Conservative leader has pledged to change the culture of the Canadian Armed Forces from what he calls a “woke” culture to a “warrior” one.
Really didn’t take long to find the culture war dog whistle.

Cutting spending on social services is how it traditionally works.
They’re already suffering severely. It’s all downhill from here folks.
Talking from both sides of the mouth I see. How talented is he?!
- AnotherDirtyAnglo ( @AnotherDirtyAnglo@lemmy.ca ) 16•2 months ago
It wouldn’t. This prick will promise anything to anyone who will listen to him.
- psvrh ( @psvrh@lemmy.ca ) 15•2 months ago
Yeah, I’m sure that “woke culture” is the reason why we can’t meet spending committments.
Conservatives are all for the military, until it comes to paying the people in it.

Here is his lifetime voting record without my bias or anything else involved. Just facts.
Everyone is free to interpret it as they wish.

Time to show this link to conservatives every time they spout one of his lies

I am sure many of them have seen it and support his votes. In fact, I know many who support the “opposition for the sake of ‘owning the libs’” votes and think it is a good thing. Nothing like a right winger to cut off their nose to spite their face.
- yeehaw ( @cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca ) 1•2 months ago
I’m not planning on voting conservative but they’ll ignore it, like me. I don’t understand what the hell I’m looking at.

The words that come out of his mouth are ever just pretty noises enjoyed by a certain segment of the population. They don’t have meaning beyond that of wind through the leaves or a fart in the elevator.

He is gonna defund it.

Under a conservative government Irving, Pattison, Weston come together to fund the President’s Choice ® Army! Defending the interests of Canadian families! (And by that we mean these 3 Canadian families exclusively).
“Restore” the era of private sector paramilitary agents, for Walmart, Costco, Loblaws, Imperial Oil, RBC, Amazon, and every big company you can think of! And use most of the money “saved” for having less than no military to “axe the taxes” that poor ol’ Galen and the boys have to pay.
- psvrh ( @psvrh@lemmy.ca ) 5•2 months ago
There’s a great word for private militaries: that word is “mercenary”.
And to quote Terry Pratchett: the problem with paying people to start fighting is that you end up having to pay them to stop.

Spend more on military, less on everything else.
- kbal ( @kbal@fedia.io ) 11•2 months ago
It’s the easy way to spend 2% of GDP on the military: Lower the GDP.
