HikingVet ( @HikingVet@lemmy.ca ) 21•8 months agoUnfortunately, I am not allowed to carry my sword in public in my country.
Yeah me too, that clearly explains our “success” with women
HikingVet ( @HikingVet@lemmy.ca ) 8•8 months agoWell, my success is more tied to being aroace and not knowing for a long time. But, the sword would have made things easier.

solsangraal ( @solsangraal@lemmy.zip ) English14•8 months agoi genuinely can’t tell if she’s being sarcastic or not. if she is: good acting. if not, good luck with the hordes of neckbeards trying to do the sword chin thing and ending up being the most awkward cringefest ever
zagaberoo ( @zagaberoo@beehaw.org ) 31•8 months agoIt doesn’t read sarcastic to me; the joke is more presenting a fantasy as though it were practical dating advice.
MadMadBunny ( @MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca ) 7•8 months agoPeople want romance. To live the dream fantasy. Both women and men want to feel secure and swoon, each in their own way.
She uses a sword metaphorically and visually, but you don’t need a sword. (Really, don’t)
Think of the movie classics, like Casablanca: Bogart does the same “trick” she describes when he says “Here’s looking at you, kid”.
The idea and ideal of a dream romance will vary from person to person, and one of the things, is finding the right person for you, who shares the same romance ideals.
Štěpán ( @stepan@lemmy.cafe ) English1•8 months agoI’m pretty sure it’s a joke about how men always do this to women in movies.
