A move to start offering work permits to foreigners on U.S. H-1B visas seizes on the frustrations of many in the tech industry who are stuck in U.S. immigration limbo.

US immigration is so frustrating.
I’m a citizen and my wife is not. We live in her home country and are happy here, but getting her a tourist visa is not a guarantee.
We don’t want to get a green card as that would cost thousands of dollars and take forever. Im pretty sure that would mean that she has to start paying tax to the US.
Getting a 10 year visa means paying like $200 and then an interview in which they decide if you are approved or not. The money is gone either way.
The country where she is from automatically gives the spouse a 1 year tourist visa which can be renewed. Converting to permanent just requires a few documents and like $250.
I’m currently gathering the documents for it.
