Zier ( @Zier@fedia.io ) 29•1 month agoWhat do you mean “anyone else”? I was in the shower with you. I feel so ignored!
"voi" (she/her) ( @feathercloaked@beehaw.org ) English17•1 month agoi’m autistic and have quite the sensibilities, including to light. taking a shower is something that has always been extremely calming to me, it shuts a lot of my brain down, including, sometimes, my anxiety disorder part. taking a shower in the dark is the closest thing to a state of pure inner bliss i can reach easily.
sp3ctr4l ( @sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip ) English9•1 month agoAlso autistic, I very much enjoy baths in darkness or very low light.
Poor man’s isolation tank.
"voi" (she/her) ( @feathercloaked@beehaw.org ) English4•1 month agoexactly! :D
Atherel ( @Atherel@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English5•1 month agoI have ADHD and it’s similar for me. What also helps is background rain noise. Did you try that? Im using cozy time on my PC as it also can play additional relaxing music and has a pomodoro timer.
"voi" (she/her) ( @feathercloaked@beehaw.org ) English2•1 month agoit’s not enough for me. i have heavy rain currently and while it does calm me down, it’s only one sense that is being stimulated. it’s really the water running all over me that does the trick and the light of lights makes it that much easier to just disappear in my mind.
Alice ( @Alice@beehaw.org ) English1•1 month agoI wish autism made me sensible :p
adhocfungus ( @adhocfungus@midwest.social ) English15•1 month agoNo, because the monsters would get me.
MelonYellow ( @MelonYellow@lemmy.ca ) English4•1 month agoSame. As a horror movie junkie, there are an abundance of shower scenarios that would pop into my head whilst in the dark.
Dagwood222 ( @Dagwood222@lemm.ee ) English9•1 month agoI split the difference. Shower with a candle in the room. Transparent shower curtain.
jaschen ( @jaschen@lemm.ee ) English4•1 month agoThis is how all horror scenes start with white people and their candles in the bathroom.
MentalEdge ( @MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz ) English7•1 month agoOh yeah.
My bathroom light is motion activated. The sensor doesn’t see into the shower, so if I don’t wave at it every few minutes the light goes out.
A lot of the time I don’t bother. Super relaxing.
merlin ( @aprehendedmerlin@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English7•1 month agoI would love to try but intrusive thought won’t let…
sasquash ( @sasquash@sopuli.xyz ) English5•1 month agoI do it when I have a really bad hangover
Call me Lenny/Leni ( @shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee ) English5•1 month agoShowering in the dead of night? Yes, that’s relaxing. Showering in the dead of night with all the bathroom lights off? Few things would unsettle me more.
Shawdow194 ( @Shawdow194@fedia.io ) 5•1 month agoI knew a chick who would also put on blind fold sleep mask and earplugs… they seemed to like it but I’ve never tried
ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠 ( @Nemo@slrpnk.net ) English4•1 month agoyes, I’m blind without my glasses anyway
psyklax ( @psyklax@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English4•1 month agoYeah, I do that. I also soak in the tub with ears submerged for audio blunting as well. Very sensory-deprivation. Quite relaxing.
Yingwu ( @Yingwu@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English3•1 month agoI do it everyday actually! Nice to see someone else doing it too
Boomkop3 ( @Boomkop3@reddthat.com ) English3•1 month agoI shall attempt
edisondotme ( @edisondotme@monero.town ) English3•1 month agoYes, reminds me of back when I was inside my mother’s womb.
Alice ( @Alice@beehaw.org ) English2•1 month agoAn old friend told me he did that to cope with dysphoria.
Once I was in the shower with the lights on and I slipped. When I got up I somehow snagged my arm on the faucet and made a deep gash.
Now every time I think of trying it, I imagine what kind of violent shit I’d do to myself if I slipped and couldn’t see.
