what are some of the methods or guides to download or ripping videos from various sites also any way to download from premium file hosts like rapidgator and others
oldfart ( @oldfart@lemm.ee ) English5•3 days ago Lyra_Lycan ( @Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English11•4 days agoI’ve recently discovered a very useful app on f-droid called YTDLnis, that uses yt-dlp. Most of the typical scripting and config is hidden and the frontend just involves a URL to video/s, and pre-download preview.
DebatableRaccoon ( @DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca ) English1•4 days agoIs it still up? The link won’t open in f-droid nor does search find it for me.
Evkob (they/them) ( @Evkob@lemmy.ca ) English7•3 days agoHere’s the link on Github. It doesn’t seem to be on the main F-Droid repo, only IzzyOnDroid’s, so I don’t know why the other commenter tried to link to it on the main repo.
DebatableRaccoon ( @DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca ) English1•2 days agoThanks for this. I’ll check it out.
0_o7 ( @0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English3•3 days agoI don’t know why the other commenter tried to link to it on the main repo.
Probably sharing from the fdroid app itself. It tends to link to its own repo with package name, even if they are from a different repo.
Lyra_Lycan ( @Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English1•2 days agoBingo - I haven’t been in this exact situation before so I had no idea. Clicking the link opens the app flawlessly, I should make more of an effort to check links in a browser
ѕєχυαℓ ρσℓутσρє ( @SexualPolytope@lemmy.sdf.org ) English6•4 days agoThe most powerful app I’ve ever used for this is 1DM+ (there’s a free version as well). It won’t let you download YouTube videos due to Play Store rules, but everything else pretty much works. I’ve never managed to match its versatility or speed for downloading videos from sites with anything else. (I’d love to replicate it on my Linux machine, if I could.)
Honse ( @Honse@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English2•3 days agoI second 1DM+. For some reason it’s the most cracked download manager I’ve ever used even compared to jdownloader2. No clue how or why it’s so good, but I also wish I could get it to run on my Linux machine.
J-Bone ( @jbone@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English1•1 day agoHow does this compare to jDownloader2? JD2 seems to be able to deal with almost anything you try throwing it (with some edge cases, but you can often figure out workarounds).
Lime Buzz (fae/she) ( @SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org ) English3•4 days agoWe recommend using yt-dlp in a terminal app.
