Hey all,
Trying to find a Canadian brand of toothpaste, or at the very least, a brand of toothpaste that isn’t American.
Crest, Colgate, Sensodyne, and Arm & Hammer are all American brands from what I can tell. I already found a Canadian brand called Green Beaver, but they’re one of those “natural” companies that for some reason thinks putting flouride in toothpaste is bad, and I really don’t want to give any money to a company that continues to deny science at this late date.

While it was originally an American brand, Sensodyne’s parent company got bought by a British company in 2000, then spun off into another British company through corporate restructuring in 2022. It’s not Canadian, but it’s at least not American-owned.

Thank you SO much for this! The closest Canadian brand I could get is a lot more expensive, and I’m starting to have trouble affording all these pricey substitutes! Just so I can confirm, here do I find more information?

Sensodyne is a brand of toothpaste that was first sold by Block Drug, a Brooklyn, New York-based company established in 1907 by pharmacist Alexander Block.[1]
In 2000, Block Drug was purchased by Smith Kline Beecham P.L.C.,[11] which became GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK).[12]
Sensodyne became a part of Haleon, a British multinational consumer healthcare corporation, in July 2022, following the establishment of Haleon as a separate entity through a corporate spin-off from GSK.[14]

Attitude. Fairly easy to find (we get it from well.ca mostly) and they have a wide range of good products. Toothpaste being one of them.

Sensodyne is owned by Haleon, a British company. I’m still also looking for a good Canadian toothpaste…
You might like Cari0 Toothpaste sold via Oral Science. It’s owned in Canada, though I’m not entirely sure where it is manufactured. It was developed by a dental caries researcher in Montreal.
From the same website (Canadian store) you can also find some other great products:
- X-Purr also makes some great mouth rinses.
- Xylimelts for dry mouth patients
- Curaprox interdental brushes for people who get food stuck between their teeth due to receded gums.
The people who run it are chemists. But if fluoride is your thing go for it.
You can buy bottles of fluoride gel from certain dentists, I had a 500ml bottle after cancer treatment, just mix it with Green Beaver.
While external fluoride is good, kids swallowing too much flouride via paste and flouridated water has shown a softening affect on bones and can alter tooth colour.
Also lookup fluoride toxicity and neurology, it’s nasty if ingested.

If your dentist doesn’t sell it, looks like amazon has X-pur NAF GEL. Looks like a similar product. Mine was unbranded / unlabeled from dentist, as plain or mint flavoured.
