From when I was a proper little kid maybe the Dizzy games, and a game called CJ in the USA.
From a bit older I get really nostalgic for Ultima Online. That game was great and there’ll never be another experience like that. No separation for PVP, PVE, role players or the like, everyone just crammed in together.
https://yolkfolk.com/ has loads of Dizzy stuff!
Original Sonic The Hedgehog for the SEGA Megadrive
The Legend of Zelda on NES
4 games come to mind immediately (all on PC, win3.11, and at times DOS when they wouldn’t work on win), Great memories.
- Star Crusader (1994)
- Age of Empires I (1997)
- Warcraft I (1994)
- Outpost (1994)
I think I have those dates right
Loved Warcraft I & II. Bit of replay value with the map editor on 2 as well. Plus playing through all the sound files with the built-in player
Mostly any games on a Commodore Vic-20 or C64
I do recall having an old TV console, ie Ping pong, etc, but, I wouldn’t say that was as nostalgic as the later cassette games… the screaching sounds whilst loading (for minutes)… ahhh…
What were your favourite C64/Vic20 games? Was the Vic20 that popular in the UK in the 80s?
Uridium … Jetpac… Time Tunnel…
Chiller / Thriller - the one that had to change it’s name & music to avoid legal action from Michael Jackson: https://www.gamesthatwerent.com/gtw64/chiller-v1/
Er… the Last V8…
Man… there were loads and I don’t really recall their names, but can recall the games
Vic-20 was the lower cost option of the C64, so yeah, loads around. Of course you always wanted the C64… then the C128 and then the Amiga…
- Minecraft (on a friend’s Xbox 360)
- Minecraft Classic (in Internet Explorer on a school PC)
- SheepLauncher (on iOS on my dad’s iPhone 3GS)
- Bust-a-Bloc (on the PS2 I got from my mum’s workplace)
- Shaun White Snowboarding (on the Wii I bought from a neighbour)
- Road to Vegas (on my Nintendo DS)
- Face Raiders (on my gran’s Nintendo 3DS)
Super Mario World and Aladdin SNES
Lego Stunt Rally. Super simplistic one button racing game with a built-in track editor, talking\reacting heads and basically a fun trailer that, probably, oversells what the game really is: https://youtu.be/50YQLd2y7jM
I don’t think I’d play it now, but I greatly enjoyed it back then and now it’s interesting to think of it later and understand how various limitations made it’s production and gameplay more streamlined and accessible.
