• This. Generations of American exceptionalism has been baked into nearly every facet their being, culture, politics, and ways of life - piggybacking straight off a century of British imperial exceptionalism.

The US will need to fall and fall hard before they even begin to start thinking about changing their ways and even then it’s not guaranteed.

        They won’t even understand that.

Soy farmers are baffled as to why:

        1. China isn’t buying American soy beans anymore.
        2. Brazil is now the chief external source of soy beans for China.
        3. Brazilian farmers are buying Chinese farming equipment instead of American.

On that last point they’re expressing the belief that China is somehow forcing Brazilian farmers to use cheaper … higher quality … ah … more capable and … ah … not locked-down by enshittification … tractors?

They genuinely do not get it, even when their farms are facing foreclosure! And they still vote for the ill-tempered old-age toddler who did it to them.
