Definitely seems like ACE and the media companies have been getting a lot of wins lately
Durk ( @Durk@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English3•1 year agoMeh, they can’t really get any wins, it’s like a man trying to fight a tsunami, they’re only gonna hurt themselves.
Black_Gulaman ( @Black_Gulaman@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English4•1 year agoHow so? They’re mainly targeting big ones and mostly succeeding (which concerns me). If only small ones remain then we’ll be seeing a more fractured pirate community, well need to go into more sites to find what we need, and most will be walled off to majority of the public through private trackers or hidden chat communities. Which will then make it harder for possible new pirates to get into. Numbers are one of the things protects pirates. There are so many of us to prosecute us all, but if the community walls itself to the outside world then there will come a time that there will be few users left that targeting each them will become possible. (the most prolific ones, that is)
ArcaneSlime ( @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English4•1 year agowell need to go into more sites to find what we need
I set up Jackett last week in qbittorrent and you need to too. Holy hell what an upgrade, no longer do I need to travel around to different sites to snag a torrent, just search from within my client, it’s beautiful! I’m not even done, I still have to add my private trackers, and it’s already no going back!
I know the *darr automatic stuff is out there, but I like picking my shit manually anyway so I haven’t bothered with all that. I use qbits auto management though and like to pick my folders and tags and have them all set based on where I got the torrent or whatever.
LunarticBot ( @LunarticBot@beehaw.org ) English3•1 year agoProwlarr is even better.
CmdrShepard ( @CmdrShepard@lemmy.one ) English1•1 year ago100% agree but if they’re not using the *arrs they probably won’t even notice the difference.
LunarticBot ( @LunarticBot@beehaw.org ) English1•1 year agoI use prowlarr for manual searching, not with the *arr apps. I always found jackett too buggy and slow for manual searching.
SJ_Zero ( @SJ_Zero@lemmy.fbxl.net ) English7•1 year agoOn a lark I went to check out if animesuki was still up. I used to use that all the time back in the day.
Nope, dead since 2019.
RIP
subway ( @subway@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English3•1 year agoThe forums are still alive, if not as active they used to.
0x0F ( @0x0f@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English7•1 year agoi wonder if we’ll see a move to tor…
XTornado ( @XTornado@lemmy.ml ) English10•1 year agoThat would suck not just because usually is terrible slow (and I know it will just be the site not the downloads on tor) but because that might cause them to fight more Tor and use this as excuse.
ArcaneSlime ( @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English8•1 year agoAlso Tor is ironically not good for TORrenting. I2P would be the move.
subway ( @subway@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English4•1 year agoI just checked i2p website and it looks like they launched a bundled distribution easy to install just like torbrowser. Hope it catches on and more filesharing moves to i2p.
ArcaneSlime ( @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English2•1 year agoWHAAAAAAAT?! I’ve been waiting* for this since Tails removed i2p! If this runs on linux I’ll have it within the hour!
*waiting in the sense of desiring, I have used i2p a bit with i2pd but not extensively.
subway ( @subway@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English1•1 year agoWell it’s
