This is a community dedicated to Arcology. Arcology is a portmanteau of “architecture” and “ecology”. It is a set of architectural design principles for very densely populated and ecologically low-impact human habitats.

Though in Science Fiction arcologies have often been portrayed as simply enormous sky scrapers, the term was coined in 1969 by architect Paolo Soleri. He sought to design large interconnected structure that provide space for residential, commercial, and agricultural functions while simultaneously minimizing human environmental impact.
