I hope someone asks them how this is meant to work in Na h-Eileanan an Iar in particular, the constituency with a name that would be illegal to talk about under this moronic proposal. Maybe a journalist can get a moment from them when they take a break from drinking bleach and masturbating to pictures of Oswald Mosley

They could change the laws for Cornish but unless they storm holyrood at the next Scottish election they’d have to persuade holyrood to do the same for Gaelic. Which isn’t going to happen.
Stormont - no idea if they could force legislation through but it would be unwise and would probably reignite the troubles.
I’m sure there would be human rights litigation for the whole stupid plan. Ultimately its just going to push more people toward independence movements. Maybe thats the idea - sow more division so we’re not looking at the billionaires hoarding their wealth.
It’s for UK-wide general elections, control of which is a reserved power. Westminster decides how those work for the whole UK, the devolved parliaments only get to handle elections to themselves (and I think local elections, but I’m not totally sure on that for Northern Ireland and Wales)
Ahh, of course. I still think its a dangerous diversion tactic though.
If anything it’s more dangerous because it still affects the areas that speak those languages just as much and the devolved parliaments can’t do anything about it
The way Farage is going, it won’t take long before Count Binface’s Election Manifest is the most sensible and reasonable one of the two.
They should reverse switcheroo the amendment and explicitly call out campaign leaflets printed in Russian as carrying a criminal sentence. That’ll give Reform pause for thought.
