I went to a festival alone once. It was one of the most enjoyable times I’ve had, and weirdly freeing for someone who is otherwise a chronic people-pleaser.
Even when I go to festivals with friends, we usually have slightly different priorities in who we want to see and end up separated anyway. Can catch up at breakfast time and get a report on how good the stuff that you couldn’t see was, which you can perfectly well do by speaking to randoms. Depends on the festival, of course - some are much more friendly than others.
Solo outings are fine if they’re your idea. Not so much if they’re forced upon you by circumstance.
Try a solo vacation! Heaven! No having to figure out where to go, what to eat, when to eat, how much to spend, when to go to bed, when to get up, etc.
I know someone whose favorite thing to do on vacation is to sleep in the hotel room until 1 or 2 pm every day. Forget doing ANYTHING before 3 or 4 pm. They’d get irritated if I went out at 8 am and started doing stuff without them. The museums and attractions close at 5, I’m not paying to see it for an hour.
Travel alone, it’s liberating!
That sounds incredible. I don’t think I could spring it.
Just do solo, one-tank day trips, then. Go visit the museums and stuff in the next city over.
No car and about as much time. I get Friday night at 7:30 PM to Saturday morning at 11:59 AM to myself. Outside of that I’ve got obligations.
I really enjoy going to good restaurants alone. I use that chance whenever I get it.
I get Friday night from 7:30 PM to Saturday at 11:59AM to myself. No phone calls, texts, messages, or emails. Home to myself. No contact. It’s my absolute favorite time of the week. 9:00AM on a Saturday, nobody around: it’s like inhaling deeply after holding your breath for a week.
It sounds like this person somehow glitched through the Matrix. Fascinating.
