Millions of Europeans face unprecedented limits on water access due to lack of rain. Low flows in major rivers are slowing trade, dragging down energy production and decimating staple crops such as maize, rice, wheat, and soy
How many water outages are due to the drought directly? I know I saw one reported recently but the actual cause of the outage was a burst pipe and the problem was very localised.
The surrounding region only had water restrictions in the from of you can’t water your garden with a hose pipe if you are physically fit and able to carry a bucket or watering can. AFAIK no part of the UK has more extreme water restrictions than that yet.
Non essential use bans might be implemented in parts of Hampshire soon if they are approved. Which can impact several commercial uses for water as well although is still more mild than it’s name would actually suggest.
