Cover art of "Paper Trail, a Deltarune fancomic by LynxGriffin", showing Kris and Susie standing in complete darkness, following and picking up a trail of coloured papers that each have a black SOUL heart on them.

When the empty classroom at the school is cleaned out, Kris, Susie, Ralsei and Lancer go on a scavenger hunt across Hometown to locate all the missing objects from the classroom to restore the Dark World. But the more they recover, the more they uncover about their own pasts, and dark secrets that Hometown has been keeping from them.

This fancomic was started [in 2016] and finished before chapter two of Deltarune came out.

A comic page from early in the story of "Paper Trail, a Deltarune fancomic by LynxGriffin". Kris, Ralsei, Susie and Lancer are running towards the Castle Town exit to the Light World, seemingly being chased by the Knight, while Ralsei tries to protest that, presumably, he cannot leave without transforming back into a lifeless object like any other Darkner.
