Not that it will actually trigger his expulsion, I would still encourage any Canadian to sign it and help send the message.
I have mixed feelings about it. Hoekstra is indeed a piece of shit, but he does accurately represent what the US is right now.
I think I’d rather there be a shitty US shitty ambassador than one that was skilled at smoothing things over.

That is the sad reality.
As I mentioned, I doubt Carney will actually kick Hoekstra out - that would just trigger Trump to escalate.
But I do think this petition gives the government a strong indication of the public mood, and may also help give pause to Canadian groups that would have otherwise given Hoekstra a public platform.
He has previously been invited to speak at chambers of commerce and on various news programs. If those opportunities to spread his message are reduced or cease completely, the petition will have had a positive impact.
I think it does more damage to the reputation of the US to have Hoekstra doing interviews and doing speaking events than him not doing those things.
It’s hard for people to pretend that “maybe the US isn’t that bad” after hearing Hoekstra speak.

The most dangerous phrase of the last 10 years has been “Trump Always Chickens Out”.
