Had a blowout over the weekend and was restocking my bag, so I thought to share.
I’ve got:
- Tire levers
- Combination allen key
- $20
- Tube w cellophane
- CO2 w cracker
Looking at this list, I should probably add a quick link. They’re sitting in my tool chest right next to me. My saddle bag is also right next to me… now would be a great time to do that.
Anyways? How do you all pack?
Nothing 🫣
Ultra-light! Love it! You’re in good company
What are the CO2 canisters for?
Quick nang during the commute
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The only way I can focus at work these days
I need one to inflate the spare tube in case of a puncture. The second one is insurance.
Lighter than an air pump
So my domestique can turn any beer into a draft beer.
I use a pencil case.
- Tire levers
- Spare tube
- 15mm wrench
- Multitool
- 2 nitrile gloves
- Some bandaids
- Hand sanitizer
I keep a mini pump in my bag or mounted to a bottle cage boss. I also have a u-lock and cable in my bag whenever I go out.
A pair of gloves might be a good add to my bag : )
I do mostly trail biking. I just started carrying a mini battery operated chainsaw in my bag a month ago and it’s already come in handy twice. I also carry the usual tools, a spare tube, a GMRS HT, solar powered GPS, first aid kit, and snacks. If I’m biking on the river trail, I throw a collapsible fishing pole in there, as well.
Chainsaw?? That’s a first, never heard that before.
To be fair, there’s been a few times in my travels where I’ve thought… I need machete rn and maybe a similar feeling took a hold of you. Vrrrnn Vrnnnnnn
The trails around here are very prone to fallen trees and branches and sometimes there’s no easy way around when they come down. With that chainsaw, I can get myself and everyone else on the trail moving again before trail maintenance even gets the call.
Thank you for your service
On my road bike:
- spare TPU tube
- TPU patch kit
- minimal multi tool
- tyre levers
- quick link
- a few zip ties
- small abus wire lock (combiflex)
- 20€
- a few small odds and ends
+ a mini pump mounted to my frame and a small electric pump in my jersey pocket
It sounds a lot, but it all fits in a small saddle bag.
On my gravel bike I have all of the above plus:
- tyre boots (saved my arse once)
- latex gloves
- a pocket sized torque wrench
- spare battery for power meter and speed sensor
Maybe a bit over the top, but it still fits in a medium sized saddle bag.
I’ve always been curious about TPU, love that it packs so small. Do you ride them all the time or just after a puncture?
I ride them all the time. I’m completely sold on them and would use them on any bike except a commuter.
The only disadvantages are the price and them holding air a bit worse than standard tubes so you need to pump them up a bit more often.
Damn according to this thread apparently I need to start rummaging through more saddle bags for cash prizes.
