I want to avoid paying potential previous American owners and import duties.

There are also concerns about Facebook Marketplace and EBay collecting personal data to sell.

Do you fine folks have a .ca type of eBay? If you’re looking to not use ebay.ca due to it being a US corpo, that would be my suggestion or if you’re not looking for a specific title, you could hit up any pawn shops that may be in your area for unexpected gems.

If you’re looking for something specific you might have success contacting retailers who specialized in old games/media. They’re not common but you can probably email them and arrange something. I imagine there is some sort of loose community/network around sourcing distributing this stuff they could connect you to as well.

Catch-22 cuz it’s nice to support these guys but you pay more than marketplace.

I personally wouldn’t classify them as middlemen. A lot of these games would be in landfills or abandoned in storage if it weren’t for these guys seeking them out and buying them. To me a middle man marks up something you can buy yourself.

They’re really just specialty thrift stores. The few I’ve been to had used books, vhs/etc, and music.

        They’re also trustworthy.

For used or new video games in Metro Vancouver, Gamehut in White Rock BC, easily accessible by transit or car. It’s a cute little independent looking shop.

For board game stores they’re all over the place.
