I have gone back and forth with if I like that this community is for politics anywhere.

Ultimately, as an American, I’ve been liking it - it gives me perspective on other countries and shows how possible solutions might succeed or fail. Also, Count Binhead.

Anyways, it’d be nice if posts contextualize. Requiring at a minimum country. If we’re talking about The Zodiac Killer Ted Cruz, then it should be “Texas, USA Politician Flies to Cancun to avoid constituency”

      Could there be a flair or otherwise suggested way to recommend people put location In? Not even as a requirement, just as a suggestion to make individual curation easier.

      It’s a very broad community and would be nice to have some level of regionalization.

        There’s a certain irony to wanting more control over what you see in Politics while complaining about U.S. News. It’s possible you’re simply not aligned with the goals of Beehaw as a project, which is fine. But you seem to want the site changed according to your desires, and things just don’t work that way.

          Its a bit weird you’re stalking me over to this conversation, when the core of Beehaw is to Bee kind.

          For context: Powderhorn is a mod on the US News Beehaw Community. Powderhorn implemented a rule the other day banning political conversation on US News.

          When I asked for clarification, I was met with an attitude of response that was anything but kind.

          Realizing that maybe US News was not a good source of political news, due to the apparent ban, I went to Politics and made a suggestion that might make the community better suited for me, and presumably others (as validated by up votes).

          I was informed of the reason why it might not be allowable while within the confines of the Beehaw mentality. I truly thought that the lack of rules more so applied to rules along the lines of “no calling for violence” may not be the best, because it can allow for Nazis to gain a voice by silencing the people who say that Nazis should be punched. I’m sure there may be better examples here.

          When I realized that the lack rules were more overreaching to even the more mundane styles of rule that can’t be used to silence speech - such as my suggestion (at least as far as I can tell) - I pivoted my suggestion to be something that is more of an opt-in best practices.

          The real irony is that the mod of another Beehaw community is making rules, being unkind to people who ask for clarification, and then stalk them to other communities in a bid to shame them for asking questions. If your behaviors are consistent with the other moderators and admins of this otherwise wonderful community, then yes, I do question whether this is the right community for me.

            I don’t know why you’re on the warpath for me reiterating a three-year-old rule because of recent issues. I said post politics in Politics and your response was disproportionate. Now you’re smearing me as being unkind for doing basic server-janitor stuff that really hasn’t been an issue for years, accusing me of not knowing what news is, and telling me I’m the one being unreasonable.

            I’m also not stalking you. I’m a user of the site. So of course I see posts in other communities. The reasonable response here would have been to post politics in politics. Instead, you chose to test my boundaries by posting entertainment news to U.S. News as some sort of flex.

            As I said, it doesn’t appear you understand how Beehaw works. If you wholesale dislike it, I’m not sure why you continue to show up.

              I asked you a genuine question on your post.

              Your first response was hostile.

              You brought the argument outside of the confines of the post.

              In the spirit of Beeing Kind, I will not further engage with you on this topic.

              To the other mods and admins of Beehaw, please review the behavior of Powderhorn. If you’re lockstep with Powderhorn on this matter, then please let me know. I will leave the community on my own, as it is not the one that I believed I’ve been excitedly participating in these past few months.

              I’ll post this comment, and then self report it, to make others aware.

              Edit: I cannot report my own comment, I have reported Powderhorns, only as a way to ping the thread, not because I necessarily believe they are in violation of rules
