It’s really fucking good. Control is my favorite game ever. And this one is right up there.

Meh. I think it really sucks they ditched Jesse as the PC and I lost all interest in it. So unless she becomes the PC again later no one’s doing to convince me to buy it.
It actually pisses me off that they created such a popular and interesting female main character and then immediately zapped her for a literal manbaby. Meanwhile captain monotone Alan Wake and generic angry guy Max Payne both get franchises to themselves. Remedy can get effed as far I’m concerned.
Jesse is in the game, fyi. You just don’t control her.
I’ve only played a couple hours so far so I really don’t know, but it seems like she might play a large role in the story.
I know she plays a role in the story but I really enjoyed playing as her and don’t want to reward remedy for ditching her. I’m glad you’re enjoying it, however I’m just not interested in control anymore… which sucks because it was a unique game.
Maybe someone will make a mod that swaps Jesse and Dylan haha
I think I get why they did it. It sort of mirrors the “one sibling is (possibly?) in trouble and it’s up to the other sibling to get to the bottom of it and find/help/whatever them” that they did in the first game.
I personally kind of agree that I’m not really a big fan of Dylan and would have prob preferred to keep playing as Jesse. At least not yet. I’m gonna put a tiny bit of faith in the devs that this opinion will change as I play through the story.
Makes me kind of think about how furious people were about The Last of Us pt. 2 when they find out they have to play half the game as Abby. A character that the events of the beginning of the game push you to absolutely despise.
But when you give the game a chance to show you what it’s trying to do… Goddamn it was a masterpiece. I was full-on weeping for like the last 4 hours straight of that game.
So I dunno, I’m gonna put a little trust in the devs hoping that they know what they’re doing with the main character swap.

Not just Epic exclusive, funded and published by Epic. It will probably never come to Steam, or at least not for a very long time.
And despite liking Alan wake and control, that decision has permanently offboarded me from their franchise because I refuse to use EGS. oh well!
That’s only the case for Alan Wake II. Control Resonant is self-published and available day one on Steam.
Not being able to play Alan Wake 2 makes me not want to play any more games in the series until I can, if ever.
You’re not missing much anyway. AW2 starts strong and then becomes an unbelievable slog halfway through. I can forgive boring gameplay if there’s an interesting story to tell but AW2 has neither.
Throw on top that they ditched Jesse as the main character in control 2 and they’ve killed nearly all of my interest in this franchise/universe
Is Alan Wake 2 officially part of the Control game series? I thought they just shared the same world.
I bet there are Easter eggs, but I haven’t seen anything indicating that you need to play AW before Resonance
There was a whole DLC in control tying them together so it seems like it with my current knowledge
Well that’s too bad then because I tried playing both AW games and they bored me to death.
Well one could download the games for free… It’s not my style for modern PC games, but its not like you aren’t able to play. ;-) Also maybe this will be an option in the future when emulation is good enough.

Then use a third party launcher like Heroic and play the game, it’s good.
You add non steam games to your steam library with a click. There’s no need for another launcher on top of steam.

Yes the first game just keeps getting better. You keep getting new powers too and they’re really fun to use.
The first game takes a while to pick up as you learn more abilities. By the end you can literally fly lol

There is decent crossover. There’s an OOP from Alan Wake in the panopticon in control. I think I heard there was more in the DLC? Ahti also makes an appearance in Alan WAKE 2. They are all in the same universe. Alan Wake is basically just another AWE to the FBC.
The FBC is in Alan Wake 2, and one of the AW2 DLCs explores an FBC office that was set up to investigate Cauldron Lake.

This is going to learn 'em to ever fall for the epic exclusive grift again. Last year they were whining about how they might have to shut down because alan wake 2 sold poorly.

Haven’t played it yet, but watched the beginning of the game in a let’s play. The streamer complained about finding all these text logs and “having” (the option) to read them. So far it felt quite similar to how they handled this in Control. Also several things from control were back right in the beginning. I stopped, when the streamer suspected that they’d be leaving the oldest house and heading out in the city, though as I didn’t want too many spoilers and was just longing for an “extended preview”.
