This works extremely well so far. Emulation is even pretty well with retro arch that has a bunch of cores ported (including dolphin for Wii/gc and pcsx2), pcsx3, and a switch emulator that all still need work but can run games

Loading games is simple although the compressed fpkg format is not yet supported. It supposedly is already done privately but the devs are waiting on Sony to patch the bug related to it before release. Downloading games is miserable too, torrents are hard to find and a lot of them are hosted on download sites. Nothing like downloading 100gb from a sketchy site that’s capped at 100mbit, but hopefully that expands a bit now that basically every ps5 that wasn’t updated in the past week is moddable

It will be interesting to see what drops after gta6. As of right now the entire library can run as long as you’re on 13.60 but before this there were some games with issues because back porting games to lower firmware is a bit messy. Pretty sure that’s why the one dev who exited the scene when the hypervisor exploit was reported was holding on to it, they wanted to time it for gta6 release. There’s rumors that there is another hyper visor exploit that isn’t released though

PC’s become purposefully unaffordable, so all gamers have access to are these overpriced, spying, slave boxes that run exclusively on micro transactions and inflated priced digital media that we can’t own.

    Praise be upon the pirates.

I loved how jailbreaking a PS3 or a PSP made these consoles useful for many other things. Backing up my games (and others’) was great, sure, but I could also add emulation, media servers, better save data management, more offline capabilities, remote control of other devices, backwards compatibility that Sony had disabled, and so much more. Jailbreaking a gaming console was the best way to keep it useful as long as possible. 👍

The auto loader just makes it offline and automatically loads packages you select, you still have to run it every reboot

But a tethered jailbreak is nothing new. The real unfortunate bit is without a full hypervisor exploit you can’t run stuff like Linux. The older firmwares that were fully exploited were essentially solid gaming pcs that could run steam bc of this

That said it’s really a minor issue. The jailbreak process takes a few seconds, it’s really not a burden. It’s not like you have to reinstall everything every time. Apparently sometimes it can fail but I’ve done it a few times now and it’s very painless
