This place is so dead lol. Then again, I feel like that’s the case with a lot of places on Lemmy, so be the change you want to see I guess.
This has been a somewhat slow process for me. Admittedly I haven’t really been in a rush to move onto the next thing so I’m not terribly bothered by that. I’ve been through the Mabinogion, The Book of Taliesin. I’m currently trying to wrap up Rachel Bromwich’s translation of Tryoedd Ynys Prydain which. is. dense. Technically I’m done with the triads themselves but I want to read all the notes on the figures that are referenced in them. I think I want to see about looking for a copy of Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regum Brittanniae and a translation of Y Gododdin. I also feel like I’m missing out on some extra lore so I might go through the bibliographies to see what I’m missing (unless there’s any suggestions.) But I feel like I have the big stuff mostly out of the way.
I’m kind of sad about this prospect because I’ve really enjoyed the research but I’ve also been eager to get to the Irish mythologies. I’m hoping to start with Lebor Gabála Érenn when I get there but the books I want are pricey!
.ml is defederated from a LOT of instances though, probably get more traction if you were to start again on another instance ?
Maybe, but they didn’t look very lively either. I had considered starting another community but I’m also really great at forgetting these things exist.
there are places like maryjones.us where you can read a lot of irish texts for free, if you don’t mind reading on a screen!
i think archive.org has a lot of out of copyright/print ebooks if you’d rather an ereader too.
but yeah, for physical books that you can’t get via library/inter-library loans, they can be pretty pricey 😅
Oh I know lol. I take advantages of the resources I can but all this research has ended up giving me a newfound love of physical books. I was originally going to go digital all the way initially. Getting a copy of TYP was a real pain since it wasn’t available when I wanted it. My poor wallet. 🥲
Project Gutenberg ?
