• I’m just stating a fact here. US government does not give a shit about its citizens, you included. It’s more interested in its quixotic quest to deprive China of high end chips than ensuring people in Arizona have access to drinking water.

          • Yet again, you fail to understand the US’s motivations. Like China, the US doesn’t want to be beholden to other nations for functionality that is vital for a modern economy. As for why Arizona? Simple. The state of Arizona gave them generous tax subsidies to locate in Arizona. And as much as I dislike that, I invite you to look at the favoritism exercised by China’s state owned banks before being critical.

            • Yet again, you fail to understand the motivations of the oligarchs who run the country. US is just a vehicle for the financial capitalists to make profit, they hold no allegiance to US as a country whatsoever. That’s why US is now largely deindustrialized and reliant on China for much of its critical manufacturing. If people running things actually cared about US not being beholden to other nations then they wouldn’t have let this happen in the first place. Here’s an article you should read to understand the nature of financial capitalism, and why deindustrialization is prevalent in the west. The whole plan for reshoring is completely unrealistic, and just another hare brained scheme from people who have completely lost touch with reality.

I’m not being critical of state subsidizing domestic development, that’s absolutely what the state should be doing. I’m being critical of the laughable way US is attempting to do this. At the end of the exercise there won’t be any serious domestic chip production, and people living in the area won’t have drinking water.
