Open it to continue watching a show- 2 minutes of ads. Find the episode, start it- 2 minutes of ads. Forward to the part I left off at, 2 minutes of ads.
Fucking garbage.
Pause the show? Believe or not, ads
Yup
Is that really for real? I’m so glad we got rid of that.
YouTube changed their app to double dip ads too. Previously I could connect to my TV, then play a video on it. Now I have to start the video on my phone, which plays ads, then connect to the Tv, which plays more ads before the video. Advertisers will never be satisfied.
I use YouPlay. So no ads on YouTube for me. In fact, I have YouTube blocked on all my devices.
Youtube premium has zero ads. Are you on the free ad plan?
Thankfully my jellyfin server has no ads.
they have absolutely no problem charging you money and forcing you to watch bullshit ads, but you just can’t live with yourself if you obtained the show without paying them
lol
sorry for your luck? i can’t even remember the last time i even saw an ad, and i feel fucking great about it
Im the type of person they hate, I got the service along with T-mobile internet. Technically, I’m not paying them a dime- and since they seem to subject people to annoyance after annoyance to entice us into paying to not be annoyed- I never will.
I just assumed this fit the description of something that belongs here.
Technically, I’m not paying them a dime
because offering this “extra bonus ‘free’ package” brings them more money than if they were to charge you, because of the contract you signed, and the data you’re giving them. for free. honestly i would pay a dime if it meant skipping 2 minutes of ads followed by 2 minutes of ads
but no one has to do that. search up mullvad, buy some VPN for $5/month and go from there. i honestly don’t get why anyone even creates an account on streaming services anymore, let alone pays them
Again, not paying. We’re hitching along for the ride as a result of something we’re already getting.
And No contract. Just using the service as long as we want to have it.
I would have cancelled after the first ads. You’re paying them and can’t even browse the catalog without ads?
I’m not paying for shit. It’s free with our T-Mobile internet.
Do you pay for T-Mobile internet? If so, I hate to break it to you, but you’re paying.
You pay for tmobile, and you’re paying with your time when you watch their ads.
Can’t trust anyone ever. TV used to be “Free” but you had to endure some ads. I found a VHS recording of Kqrate Kid a few years ago and it had really short ads. They started to cram more and more ads in. What if we play shows at 1.3 times the speed and cut some shit out? One more ad. I think at that point i’m just too autistic to watch ads. My sister always says that she doesn’t mind, she just records everything and skips the ads. Now, with some blockbusters, apparently you can’t do that anymore, so she’s just back to ads. I don’t think i have seen a TV ad in 15 years at my place. Now you pay for streaming AND watch ads. It’s insanity to me. I just couldn’t, i’d rather not watch something anymore tbh.
enshitified
enshittified
Same thing.
Reading the comments, you don’t want to pay to watch ads (fair) but also you don’t want to pay and learn to use a new app to watch without ads… well… try turning off the TV and read a book.
Product placements exist in books and reading a book is not always practical. TV or audio you can turn on in the background.
You are right. But people before me have been trying to offer them alternatives so they stop seeing ads and they kept moving the goalposts because they just wanted to be right. And the only solution then is just turning off the TV. You won’t see any ads and you won’t need to spend money or learn anything new to avoid them.
You’re a bit of a dick, aren’t you?
Fair enough. After all, my bio says I’m a lot of things but not a velociraptor so I guess that one fits too.
However, I’m just stating facts. Several people before me have offered you solutions for you to stop viewing ads (your main complaint) yet you dismiss all of them because you don’t want to pay more or to learn a new app because you don’t have the time. However, you do have the time to come here, whine and dismiss others when they try to help you.
Idk mate, looks to me like you just want to whine for the sake of it. And in that case, well… go read a book: no ads, no sub to pay and no apps to learn.
Just can’t stop, can ya??
You might want to check what does it mean to post on a public forum. People can reply to what you say. If you don’t like it… books don’t do it.
Anyways, enjoy your ads!
I get it now. You’re that guy that just can’t refrain from being an ass while pretending to give kindly advice!! I know the type well, I few up with one of you.
Blocked. (It’s the only way you’ll shut up)
Blocking people who don’t agree with your narrative only puts you in your own echo chamber where you hear only what you want to hear and not the truth.
Granted, you’ve been doing that most of this post so I’m not surprised.
And yet you still pay for it.
Wrong.
I’m amazed at how advertising has infiltrated tech like a cancer. Fuck “Tide” and others and their subsidizing of the tech bros. Intrusive bastards.
I grabbed IPTV about a month ago now and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made concerning television and movies. All sports. All VOD. Every streaming service. I only really got it for hockey but the value is immense. I think my first month is just about up and I’m ready to go year to year. Honestly consider it.
If I could watch Picard on that- I would.
Not to judge your taste, but of all the Star Trek shows, that’s the one you can’t go without?
It’s the one I wanted to see.
Fair enough, I enjoyed some episodes at least, hope you like it

Lmao…. It’s cheaper to just pay for the add free version of Paramount+.
Interesting. Well I pay $10 CAD a month for every single streaming service available, including Paramount+, Apple TV, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, HBO Max, Discovery, video on demand, and 20k channels including UFC and any sports program imaginable.
I was trying to help you out but clearly you’ve got it all figured out. :)
I have paramount+ and I don’t have any ads. What plan are you on?
I guess just the basic one. It came with T-Mobile internet.
Oh yes that one is garbage. I have T-Mobile as well but i ended up paying for the ad free version. So much better.
And even then you get a 30sec ad at the start of every show, sometimes for the show you just put on.
Yes but you just skip them. And they are previews, not ads.
The only difference I see is that it’s always for something already on the platform, still an ad for something, give me the option to turn it off. Might be different if it was helping load the show, but if anything it adds loading time rather than reducing it.
