The first world is capitalist aligned with the United States, the second world is communist aligned with the Soviet Union, and the third world is any other system yet to be a proxy for the former two world powers. For some reason “third world” has been redefined as those residing in capitalist neo-colonies since the fall of the Soviet Union. I think the framing is convenient for nations who capitalism was chosen for against their will, but it’s different here in the imperial core.

For commoners in the first world we’re starting to experience the consequences of what we’ve actively supported and voted for for decades. Americans have deliberately created this for ourselves because the other option would have been to behave responsibly and be accountable for our actions. Americans can only possibly reverse this by thinking in a way other than reliance on a magical paternal figure who we expect will single-handedly save us from ourselves.

I see big problems coming after this.
