The lemmy.ml admins couldn’t handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren’t facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn’t instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a “reliable source” despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the “ultra radically left” /s Hasan Piker subreddit

Do you know who this OP is? They were one of the biggest names out of .ml and personified every boogeyman people have about them: constantly argumentative, never responded to what anyone else actually said, forced their ideology down everyone’s throats, constantly misrepresented situations and articles to their own ends. They will argue anything extreme just to goad people like at one point they supported rape as a viable and justified act at one point provided it’s against the right people.

They go banned from their favourite instance and are mad about it. I mean, c’mon, are we really going to gloss over where they want the Daily Mail taken as a valid and reliable source just because the article has a link to something else, as if it’s not possible to editorialize information and the Daily Mail doesn’t have a long and proven track record of doing just that?

Even below, they aren’t posting that Daily Mail article they posted and got banned over, or tried to justify in the OP. It’s another, more agreeable, article entirely.

Oh the irony. I truly believe you have them all blocked. Because this is not their main account. Their main account was @geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml . But this is a good lesson on the problems of the state. It will persecute you for random capricious and vindictive reasons whether or not you are right or wrong. Especially the more micromanaged and centralized it is run. It becomes the leadership classes personal fiefdom.

      • Hexbear and lemmygrad are the other two, but I hardly hear about them anymore which makes me wonder if they’ve just been almost universally defederated to irrelevance.

.ml gets more of a pass being the home base of the Lemmy devs

I don’t think hexbearer was ever widely federated. There was a time lemmygrad tried. But despite being run by many of the same people as Lemmy.ml. it wasn’t the official Flagship server. So, many people had no issue with blocking it early and often.

Hexbear is widely defederated, you’ll find it on the blocklist of many big instances. Much of it is from years ago, back when reddit made their API changes and there was a large amount of activity in the lemmy fediverse along with a bug where their emojis were being rendered HUGE for everyone else, and their culture of the time of posting scandalous pictures and emojis were basically being shouted at everyone. Since then, just a lot of bad behaviour from users that got further blocks (like from lemmy.ca).

    • i learned recently dbzero and blahaj is also super problematic too. no rhyme or reason for a ban, not even linking to original posts. for dbzero, they just CROSSBAnned people. and the startrek website instance too,.

blahaj wants a holier than thou type instance, which is sad, and not helping trans people at all.(thier instances is just memes, almost too sexual sometimes.

    • Even generic Liberals like Owen Jones admit that what I’m saying is completely correct. Here even relevant to the post:

Zeteo - Debunked! The Antisemitism in UK Schools Report Is Based on BS Numbers

There is no “bad Jewish” stuff but you are hellbent on calling anyone who challenges the notion that Jews are actively being oppressed in 2026 an “antisemite”.

Meanwhile Zionists are using this fake victim card to push their Zionist policies through and brainwash UK school children with the IHRA antisemitism definition which bans criticism of Israel as “antisemitism”. And that’s not some cooky conspiracy that is literally what has happened this past week.

  • The admins also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a “reliable source” despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

No they didn’t, I removed that post from !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk. You also didn’t link to a report, you linked to a post by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research that neither corroborated the Daily Mail headline and isn’t a UK government body, it’s a think tank based in London. The closest that post says to the headline is “One in four parents reported their children experienced antisemitism when attending school”.

And not believing the Daily Mail to be a reliable source isn’t introducing MBFC, it’s common sense. Though given how much of your news you clearly get from Twitter, I can see why this is hard for you to grasp.

And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the “ultra radically left” /s Hasan Piker subreddit

A screenshot of Reddit post that itself is a screenshot of a Twitter post. It is right (grab the spreadsheet from here), but you should really try for better sources.

    • Thank you for the clarification. I will remove that part from my post as is incorrect. Also I did respond to a comment (of I believe you yourself?) with the link to the study.

My post is still correct. As is the Reddit post. And I’m not sure why you’re talking as if the BBC and TheGuardian are any more reliable sources than the Daily Mail while they’re putting out Zionist propaganda slop blitzes every day And then they have to be debunked by people on Twitter and Reddit because major UK newspapers cannot do basic due dilligence. And then you’re here telling me I don’t know where to get my news from?

Here is MEE having to lay out how completely fraudulent the UK government report was they used an incredibly low sample size of 70 Jewish students, on which they used the IHRA definition to conflate Zionism and antisemitism, and then mythically increased 41% to 70% because ???

      • Also I did respond to a comment (of Ibelieve you yourself?) with the link to the study and the link to it

Not me, someone who’s since deleted their account. You also linked the Daily Mail article not the report.

My post is still correct. As is the Reddit post.

How are we suppose to know that? It’s a screenshot and you never link to the original. Verifying that Reddit screenshot took quite some work on my part and I think it’s the posters responsibility to bring the evidence, not the mods to find and verify it.

And I’m not sure why you’re talking as if the BBC and TheGuardian are any more reliable sources than the Daily Main while they’re putting out Zionist propaganda slop blitzes every day which then have to be debunked by people on Twitter and Reddit because major UK newspapers cannot do basic due dilligence. And then you’re here telling me I don’t know where to get my news from?

I’m a trans person living in Britain, you’ll hear no love for the Guardian or BBC from me. But the Daily Mail is still significantly worse than both of them. Just because we sometimes have to get our information from bad sources doesn’t mean we should lower our standards to the Mariana Trench.

I also need to emphasis that Twitter is not a place you should be getting your news from (or be on at all for that matter). It amplifies far-right accounts and studies have shown it makes you more right wing. Frankly I don’t think we allow stuff from there at all.

Here is MEE having to lay out how completely fraudulent the UK government report was they used an incredibly low sample size of 70

I never defended the report, I don’t know why you’re making it out like I have. I agree that 70 is a piss poor sample size to draw conclusions from.

on which they used the IHRA definition to conflate Zionism and antisemitism

No? It was self-reported. The students may be conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism, but the survey just asks if they’ve experienced or witnessed antisemitism and takes them at their word.

then mythically increased 41% to 70%

        I think you mean 60%?

        • I really thought I linked the original study but if I didn’t then my bad though I can’t check well since my other account is gone and navigating deleted comments is too clunky for me so I’ll just concede this one.

As or the rest I’m using the MEE article I trust them to have better read the report but they are putting lines in quote marks so I assume they did I’ll quote relevant article lines below

          No? It was self-reported.

“The Bell review used the IHRA definition of antisemitism, according to its published terms of reference.”

          I think you mean 60%?

          Yes my bad typo

“Of the 92 Jewish students, 70 of them responded to a question about whether they have personally experienced or witnessed antisemitism. Twenty-nine Jewish students said they had experienced antisemitism, which equalled 41 percent of the Jewish respondents, not three in five, which would be 60 percent.”

          • I think you’re getting two things muddled up here:

            • The report does say to use the IHRA definition for antisemitism
            • The UCAS survey where the ‘three in five’ figure is from just asks students if they’ve witnessed or experienced antisemitism, it does not enforce any definition of antisemitism

Huh, I’ve seen “Zionism is good” + antisemitism and “Zionism is bad” + antisemitism, but never “Zionism is racism” + antisemitism before

  • Now that I have your attention, here’s what actual real Palestinians have to say instead of Western people put on a pedestal:

The Antisemitism Nobody Wants to Explain

Every Palestinian who attempts to accurately describe their experience — an experience of stolen homes, imprisoned and tortured family members, and besieged cities — is forced to make a very important decision: Do they name who did it?

If Palestinians acknowledge the Jewishness of the colonial project that announces itself, in its flags, its holidays, its army, and its international institutions, not simply as Jewish, but as the highest form of Jewishness, or dare mention the Magen Davids spray painted onto their homes and carved into their land and skin, or mention that it was an orthodox Rabbi who called for their murders, they are inundated with zionist accusations that they hate Jews and that they are antisemitic — the two made synonymous. Suddenly the conversation shifts away from engagement with their experiences and becomes a sham trial to determine their intent, built on the philosemitic premise that to resent their oppressors would render them an unreliable narrator who either deserved the violence against them or, at the very least, is someone who is not worth protecting. Palestinians know they will be expected to answer for, to apologize for, millennia of anti-Jewish persecution that they had no part in and will be expected to disavow and condemn not just antisemitism, but all of Palestine’s anti-colonial political history.

Knowing this, many anti-zionists, including Palestinians, have engaged in a form of idealistic self-censorship in which they rhetorically center combating antisemitism within their anti-zionism, tie the safety of Jews and Palestinians together, and preemptively assert that Palestinians do not hate Jews and therefore are not antisemitic. Meanwhile, the Jewish zionist state bulldozes more Palestinian homes, destroys more Palestinian cities, and kills more Palestinians.

This essay seeks to directly confront the reality that no one wants to engage with, one that some people either ignore or attempt to sanitize, that others trot out as if it’s proof that zionism is the answer: It is entirely reasonable that Palestinians may hold animosity toward Jews. But this is not antisemitism.

It seems quite obvious that oppressed people would hate their oppressor. In fact, it seems silly to even debate this point. For anyone who has a meaningful understanding of Palestinians’ history or present, the idea that Palestinian hostility toward Jews, including outright hatred, is antisemitism — or that antisemitism everywhere, across history, is the same — is obviously wrong. But beyond being wrong, the question of whether it is antisemitism is totally irrelevant. It is asserted specifically as a tool for the advancement of zionism.

  • Talmud says you can lie to acquit a jew aganist a non-jew (baba kamma 113a)

Then you see conviction rate of palestinians vs israelis in occupied palestine. But if you connect the two, you are anti-semitic.

When a palestinian is murdered, their murderers say they are jewish, but if the palestinian being murdered were to condemn jews, they would be called anti-semitic.

Sure there are peaceful, non-zionist jews like natura karta. But vast majority jews do support israeli actions.

If mosques in Europe and USA invited leaders of alqaeda or ISIS, and praised them, nobody would hesitate in condemning muslims.

Until synagogues start condemning Israeli state like mosques condemn ISIS and alqaeda, judaism is zionism. Anyone who think otherwise is just a hypocrite.
