I only recognize PewDiePie in the top middle and his placement here confuses me. Like if playing horror games for fun then going all in on Linux is considered ruining a generation I don’t wanna know what a healthy generation looks like.
He was a toxic racist edgelord for most of his career, normalising the sort of language we see perpetuated today by alt-right chuds for teenagers at the time.
I find it funny that you reflexively downvoted my comment despite the fact that you basically agreed with what I said. And to be clear I agree with you 100%. What he did horribly influenced the whole generation of young men. Whether or not he meant it. And perhaps I came off a bit too neutral or flippant about it. But I was never debating his inclusion in the list.
That’s fair. Like I said I know I don’t always do the best job of articulating my thoughts. Sometimes leaving things incomplete. But no I could never agree with something like that. 🤜
Welp, that video sucked. Why does it feel like this “stochastic terrorism” is kinda everywhere now? We’re not gonna make it, as a society I mean, are we?
As a young streamer he said a lot of stupid Edge Lord shit to get attention. That doesn’t make it good or acceptable. It’s just what it was. He seems to have gone on to be a much more normal person. He’s now living in Japan with his wife doing Linux and open source stuff apparently.
AFAIK he said the nono word once in PUBG in that infamous clip but I’m not aware of anything else (tho admittedly I don’t follow him and what he’s up to). But who of us hasn’t blurted out some shit in the heat of the moment (but not with lots of people watching lmaö)
He also dressed like a nazi, did the nazi salute, paid fiver (iirc it was fiver) people to hold up signs that said death to all jews in public, recommended videos by racist, and anti-Semitic, creators, and a bunch of other things. Then, when he decided to stop, he didn’t really apologize, or say he didn’t believe that stuff, or that promoting that shit, even in humor, was bad, he said he had already used it to push his channel, and it was stupid to use it again, now that he got from it what he wanted.
Top right is a guy I used to follow before I realised he probably wasn’t the healthiest guy to listen to. AmazingAtheist I believe. At the time when I was a teenager he made me more able to articulate some of the inherent hypocrisies and similarities between religions (Christmas took over a pagan holiday, which took it from something else, and on it goes all the way back to ancient Egyptian mythology, for example). But then I think he also turned a lot of us into know-it-all little shits who wouldn’t shut the fuck up.
Who are these people?

Sorry, it seemed to be in agreement with the person you replied to and normalising him by downplaying the effect of what he did.

Not with all this stochastic terrorism around.
Gonna give me that viddy later, sad to see that tho.
Doesn’t he have a track record of racist and antisemitic bits?
