Since we’ve got ambitions to build a military industrial complex, it’s a good thing to have customers who are supporting brutal wars. Well, at least as long as the wars aren’t against white people. Attack white people and you’re monstrous. Support brown and black people getting killed and we’re definitely raising an eyebrow and looking down our nose at the barbarity but still shaking hands on every deal we can make.

Can we just not be doing this… How hard is it to say, look, you have a shit country, with shit laws and you love terror states, so no thank you. Which would beg the question? Is there any country we could put up as an example to follow…m

          Except it isn’t, it’s capitalism.

Capitalists have all but entirely captured all of the politicians. Every single thing Politicians do today, is based around the idea of maximizing capital. That isn’t politics, it’s capitalism.

They use token shit like LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, First Nations rights etc as a scapegoat for actually doing anything meaningful.

          • Just because things don’t happen the way you want them to doesn’t mean it isnt politics.

Edit: this next part is only loosely realted to this discussion but… I recently had a discussion like this with a coworker. He had the idea that he was a-political and was just enjoying “watching the show” and then would spout political opinions that he didn’t recognize as such. For example, Ukraine got brought up and he said he didn’t care about xyz because [both sides-ism] and Ukraine probably did something to instigate it. Finally after that I decided to butt in every time he took a political stance and remind him that (for example) Ukraine not being entirely innocent IS in fact a political stance.
