The Ottawa Police Service is seeing a significant increase in property crimes this year, including for shoplifting.

The service’s “Safety Snapshot” shows there were 29,920 property crimes reported to police between Jan. 1 and Oct. 19, up from 28,620 property crimes during the same period last year.
