Here is my joy. To be here and around.

I was Lemmying around for over 1.5y already, under another nickname, rarely.
Rarely until recently, and found that brings sparkles. Probably something something related to my dysphoria being more a social dysphoria? I already have magic pills to help my body look better, here I’m gonna use You all to help my social life >:3c. With Lemmy new (nick)name, that I do use sometimes for few years, and which one is way more related to my intended irl one. Oh fuack, m I exposing online myself much now?..

Ania, Anna, Annie, many forms of the name. Hi hello and mrrp.

In-door pet (so far), translater, videogamer (no, no streaming so far), a little of a nerd, a little into kitchen.

  • no streaming so far

If you ever did you would be lovely at it, sparkle on Queer Dear! And mrrp indeed :p.

With Lemmy new (nick)name, that I do use sometimes for few years, and which one is way more related to my intended irl one. Oh fuack, m I exposing online myself much now?..

Standard OPSEC is to avoid using your real name or derivatives, though use of your real or derivative is a form of masking in itself since many expect the former. The principle of “one of these cups have poison, here is your cup, you can choose to switch with mine if you want.” Just be careful precious.

I would ask what games but I see you answered below. While I am a fan of VNs due to them being interactive books(I love reading), totally get why others want more game in their games, haha. Turn-based though, that is a bit surprising! Is there something in particular about them? Paper Mario: TTYD has a remaster on Switch and it is regarded as the GOAT by many and one of the all-time classics by many more for good reason, it uses turn-based combat but I would say is a really, really good example of it done right.

Ever played the Oblivion Remaster? I just started it again with an Argonian character(once again going with a Thief, hand-to-hand to avoid armor degradation concerns). If you have a Switch/Switch 2 I would love to add you on there if you want a friend! I do not have many multiplayer games but we can always boot up one of the Nintendo Classics and play if you ever are down!

For safety - on one side, facebook already know all about me even without having an account there. On second side - maybe not yet, but I intend to do the trans things irl, and bet, I do fail my passing many times, exposing myself to haters there… Compare that to saying some name over internet in public… I gain much more self from doing that, than losing.

For games, that’s my reason against interactive books, but if I go interactive, I’d pick some action, or if passive story, then let it be fully passive. For oblivion, was there on first one… not for me neither… I’m a picky brat, all of bethesda games are so freaky buggy and limited, that ruin whole immersion for me, sorry. For turn-based games recently, I only did much enjoy… Dark Souls… like, uhmmm… these are turn based to me, with stamina flow, deciding to attack or avoid, never both. Probably should mention, I do own pc only.

      Still happy to chat around

      • Meta and other tech giants deal in large swaths of information indeed, but there are ways to combat the information-gathering overreach. The start of any good OPSEC is to recognize that what has been has been, we control the flow of what will be for it has not been.

all of bethesda games are so freaky buggy and limited

Oh absolutely no disagreement on the buggy element. Limited though? Starfield was but that game was just a bad joke in general, but I have always found open world games to end up being so vast and be so busy that I just cannot be bothered. Morrowind and Oblivion are both a nice midpoint(despite some obtuse puzzles and dumb design choices, but hey, no game is completely perfect). But yeah, if bugs are a no-go, Bethesda is definitely the last place you should look towards(seconded only possibly by EA).

I only did much enjoy… Dark Souls… like, uhmmm… these are turn based to me, with stamina flow, deciding to attack or avoid, never both.

Interesting perspective. I see where you are coming from, I wonder how you feel about RTS? It is not an action genre like Dark Souls but does require minute-to-minute considerations meanwhile the game chugs along not caring if you figured out what to do.

Probably should mention, I do own pc only.

Ah, gotcha. No worries! I only like consoles myself(specifically Nintendo, the best of the three despite behavior I condemn), too much goes wrong on PC and the “freedom,” in the PC space is a facade(unless you only play old disc-based PC Games, and even then DRM is a pain on some titles). Not invalidating your choice by no means, I grew up on PC(hell I remember Facade, the Minecraft Beta(so much better back then), Slender: The Eight Pages, Survivors Beta 3, and the old GTA IV modding scene with the tsunami mod specifically), just not for me anymore. I just like to boot up the console and immediately be into whatever I wanted to play, no weird whatevers getting in the way.

Aye, meta know, will use it for ads, and I have adblock, they have anti-adblock script, and I have anti-script blocker… Unavoidable ig, so I let them know some details of mine.

For rts - I believe we jumping to genre, not some title (dunno any) - happened, from old Starcraft, thru CnC (Ra, YR, MO), bit more modern Zero-K. I’m a bit more PvE player, while RTSes shine on pvp mostly… still had lots of fun in some gamemode.

Automaton genre did step in here, much PvE with puzzle thinking, challenges, often under time pressure. I’m into these a lot.

Online purchase are not so bad on itself. At very start over 20y ago, some yelled alarms, You own nothing, but not much of a bad happened for years. Most games goes thru Steam that are quite safe with awesome support. That nintendon’t is known of delisting titles and pushing customers to buy new ones (that’s also why emulations of older N systems are so popular, many wishes to play, buy if possible, but can’t). As long storefront and publishers are ok, not too greedy with p2w or day-1 dlc, or even on-disc dlc (while dlc files are already on physical disc on premiere! but pay again to get them unlocked lol) are much no go. Mentioned oblivion and bethesda are big sinners here - they started it for masses.

For boot up console, modern consoles and pc’s turned same. forced updates are everywhere, PC may start with Steam’s BigPicture mode, that looks very like console, SteamMachine PC can be used on main room gaming system from under tv. And some tech dramas, of bad performance also happens everywhere…

Whether hackers or a service provider deciding they do not like you and taking away everything you ever spent without any means to play due to the DRM(which for Steam takes doubly the form of a Steam-check alongside whatever the title has), digital-only is a cancer.

The worst thing a hacker makes out with when it comes to my Nintendo account is titles I simply was not able to reasonably or at all get physically but that caught my eye anyway(mostly VNs). I could just lock the card, dispute any attempted charge(s), and then be right back up and going either by recovering that account or making a new one, since most of my games are physically present with me, since I refuse to buy digitally wherever possible(and that includes not buying game-key cards).

With a Steam account or otherwise though, sure you can usually recover your account, though if they trigger VAC? Steam likely does not care. If in your case Steam does not like your answers or otherwise decides not to give you the account back? Your library is completely gone. If you have the files on your computer, you cannot do anything with them due to the Steam-check DRM.

uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger, the duo of dreams. You should consider adding this list to uBlock Origin(or whatever adblock you are using) in the custom section. Despite the scary-sounding warning about sites breaking with it active, I do not think I have yet encountered a case where it broke anything.

It is not necessarily “unavoidable,” since you can limit and in many cases stop flows of data to them or otherwise compel them to delete data on you, but it is the nature of the spectrum where on the one polar end is Security and the other polar end is Convenience. Depends on where someone wishes to be on that Spectrum. The Internet is quite a place.

Not like physical copies may get stolen too. Thru years on gaming chats and forums (ok, reddit at time), I saw lots of stories when someone lost their libraries, but don’t think even a single one of bad Steam experience, while many did praise Steam support. And no, not on Steam or even PC related gaming subreddits, but general ones. Many do not care, but Steam actually do.

Getting out of the internet coz provider things… in modern world, living without internet may be tricky anyway, not only for sake of games, but even finding cheaper groceries and promos between 3 local stores.

uBlock and Badger - more like must have base. And some I (still) dont care for cookie extension on top of that, Some pages also have extra monkey scripts. uBlock ofc with some custom lists, guess I had different to Your linked one, but added - thx!

Oh fuack, m I exposing online myself much now?..

Technically speaking — anything that you share (online or not) can be used against you. It is just a matter of knowing how, why and for what purpose. So, in that sense — yeah, oversharing.

Practically speaking — not really? Unless you think you might be getting targeted for something by someone, then anything that you going to post here will end up here and rot away in an endless Void that Internet is, and people who will read this post most likely forget about it on the next morning ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

That is assuming that anything that you wrote here is even remotely true and you are not sitting behind 7 proxys.

But this a good thing to care about privacy and stuff, so hurray!

    translater

Translater as in “I translate words from one language to another”? That is actually pretty cool. I was in past really small translator.

I’ve put that ‘oh fuack’ line as a little joke, followed by next sentence. I believe exposing that much won’t put me into jail nor hospital/grave. One day may even post my photos here, like many others (ngl, that’s my dream to get so good hrt effects as many here, just not today yet).

Translater, like Trans Later, for oldies, boomers and dinos… We even have a blahaj.lemmy community here with that name, just bit abandoned. I’m no longer in my 20’s. while afaik, most around are, or even younger. I’ve born too early to get hrt or even hrt knowledge when I was teenage, so getting em now. Again, not much a safety secret, many surely will find that after reading some of my public posts or comments around, that I do use different language. Hope not many will find that detail of me weird or unpleasant, even if age gap is a think, happens.

Yes, I like to keep most of my forks at kitchen spot, how did You know!!! damn… maybe I should increase my security in posts after all <panic> ;P. Thx for comment.

Yes, but this is good thing to care in general, so fuck yeah!

I believe exposing that much won’t put me into jail nor hospital/grave

Well, it is not always about dying, but it is interesting that you mentioned Jail as first thing - could you share with us more? :)

One day may even post my photos here, like many others (ngl, that’s my dream to get so good hrt effects as many here, just not today yet).

Hopefuly we will be around to see that!

Dinosauras? Yeah, I remember those times - 10 years ago.

Hope not many will find that detail of me weird or unpleasant, even if age gap is a think, happens.

Hopefuly they are not. Although I can not say for sure. Sometimes even parents are not to be trusted.

Yes, I like to keep most of my forks at kitchen spot, how did You know?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The jail part - being trans, queer, in some places is illegal. Atm, I have quite nice hrt access, but unsure if my country do not make changes for worse after next elections or such.

Agree to all else You wrote, but get out of my walls please. thx.

    Hi, welcome!

I think for what it’s worth people you know irl probably won’t use lemmy, so it’s not likely to be a security issue to use your name.

Edit: Don’t take my word as true though, you know best. Also what kind of video games do you play?

      Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :3

Not like any irl outside queerness know me now. Had to abandon some nice pack that came out as bigots. Already made some irl queery friends (and I may accuse 1-2 of them being around, but no idea of their nicknames). I totally feel safe around already (after knowing the internet being the internet).

For games. Most stuff but sport, turn based and vn (I’m oppose VN are much of videogame, instead being fancy books, still awesome, just not for me). Recently finished Palworld, Trying to get away from Warframe (finished it) and Helldivers2 (game goes meh a lot). I miss my big mmo times, yet found nothin fun on the market - had life in Wow (while blizz was not psycho cashgrab piece of shit) and GW2 (until devs went down too)… afaik all modern mmos, if exist, are sloppy gachas. Also automatons, metroidvanias, freaky lot of old, modded Doom as single player. Probably gonna start CyberPunk again soon. Or buy Verdant Story?
