Just curious how people are doing after that crazy storm that passed through the KC area on Friday afternoon.

I’m still without power in Waldo 48+ hrs after the event. While I avoided any property damage or injuries, I do have neighbors that had trees crashing down on their houses. Luckily they seem to have come out otherwise uninjured. I saw two houses behind McGonigle’s/Fareway Market on 79th and Ward Parkway where very large trees fell on the houses and smashed vehicles.

How are you all doing? Still without power? Braving the heat or found refuge elsewhere? Receive any storm-related damage?

Oof yeah hoping your car is OK. Mine were fine, even though they were parked underneath a large tree!

I think last time I checked there’re still over 13k customer without power. I have a co-worker on the Kansas side in OP or Lenexa who still doesn’t have power either. She went grocery shopping on Friday before the storm and said she had to throw away everything in her fridge/freezer today. Double whammy right there. I finally went to a hotel this evening. Just couldn’t take the heat and humidity anymore.

Really hoping that by Tuesday power is restored. Sooner the better, of course!

  • Seems like mainly tree damage in Lenexa (around 95th and Lackman). I personally did not have much, if any, but doing the daily walk with the dog there are a lot of trees in the neighborhood that have major sections having broken down. We did not lose power.

    • Glad to hear you had no major issues!

On Saturday night, I drove along 75th from Wornall to Metcalf. I Was trying to find something to eat. And there was a several blocks length of 75th that had no power. All the traffic lights and street lights were out. Not sure when/if all that got resolved yet.

My coworker around 75th and 69 Hwy finally got power back this morning.
