Lock 'em up?

37 Felony counts
- Adderbox76 ( @Adderbox76@lemmy.ca ) English6•1 year ago
Yeah. If it was anyone else, they would already be using the word “Treason”. But somehow this ass just keeps sliding.
- Exaggeration207 ( @Exaggeration207@beehaw.org ) English4•1 year ago
One of the Top Secret documents he was holding onto looks like it contained detailed information about nuclear weapons. I wonder how much the Saudis paid for a copy of that one.

Indictment is one thing. Let’s see that conviction and then we’ll really be cooking with fire.
- Bumblefumble ( @Bumblefumble@beehaw.org ) English3•1 year ago
Federal cases have extremely high conviction rates and I’m sure a case of this caliber has a solid foundation before being brought. The only main thing that can stop it is the difficulty in finding an unbiased jury.

This is good for the rule of law and accountability, but this will likely help make the Republican primary less of a clownshow in a way that I think very likely will help the GOP.
- Lost_Wanderer ( @Lost_Wanderer@beehaw.org ) English5•1 year ago
Ehhh, I’m not so sure. The Clown had a knack for dragging those people who never voted or were nonpolitical, prior to 2016, into voting booths. Without him do they care to vote?
- ramenbellic ( @ramenbellic@midwest.social ) English5•1 year ago
Good point. Still, I worry that most dangerous thing to happen to the country next year is for someone to win with Trump’s policies, but with a higher degree of competence and professionalism.
It’s hard to say if his base will see and get engaged enough to vote for that. Culture Warrior DeSantis seems to get them pretty excited.
- watson387 ( @watson387@sopuli.xyz ) English3•1 year ago
DeSantis is worse than Trump IMO. He’s already showing his fascism in Florida…
- Em Adespoton ( @adespoton@lemmy.ca ) English2•1 year ago
They’ll still show up and vote for him and claim the system is rigged.
- Lost_Wanderer ( @Lost_Wanderer@beehaw.org ) English3•1 year ago
If he doesn’t get the GOP nomination then I definitely encourage them to write him in during the general election.
