Due to some damaged hardware, it’s about time for me to get a new phone. For my next device, I’m looking to use use LineageOS
Does anyone have suggestions for a used device with good LineageOS support? I’m looking for something decent but not too expensive with good compatibility. Any other tips for a new user?
gaylord ( @gaylord@lemmy.k6qw.com ) 5•2 years agoI suggest a Google Pixel, they have the least issues with custom roms since they basically already run stock android.
TechieJamie ( @TechieJamie@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoI run Lineage on my Pixel 4a 5G + MindTheGApps, works fantastic.
macallik ( @macallik@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoI plan on switching to LineageOS next year once my 4a 5G system updates run out
themoonisacheese ( @themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.works ) 4•2 years agoBasically any device that is listed on the top of their compatibility list, so pixel.
I’m personally running lineage 20 on an fxtec pro1 with great success though.
Sal ( @Sallp@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years agoI have an OnePlus 7 Pro, and it works very good on LineageOS.
derived_allegory ( @derived_allegory@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoI have a 7T and it is terrible. It is buggy and just randomly stops receiving phone calls. That eventually forced me away.
So I feel like OnePlus and lineageos is kind of hit or miss at this point. No where near as stable as the earlier days of lineage.
shortwavesurfer ( @shortwavesurfer@monero.house ) 4•2 years agoPixel anything
alomsimoy ( @alomsimoy@lemmy.world ) 3•2 years agoFairphone 4, I won’t go back to non-repairable ones
That phone looks pretty awesome! The price is outside of my range for the time being though
heartlessevil ( @heartlessevil@lemmy.one ) 2•2 years agoPixel tends to have the best support from 3rd-party ROMs as well as the easiest installation with its unlockable bootloader.
Bansh33 ( @Bansh33@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoBeen out of the custom ROM game on Android for a while, so I may be off the mark. But if I were going to get back in, Pixel 6a is some pretty good hardware bang for the buck. As long as you don’t need a giant screen or premium build quality, I think I’d go that route.
