Spitfire ( @Spitfire@pawb.social ) English25•2 years agoWhile I’d like to see a positive change from Reddit from the blackout, I don’t see them changing their ways.
Even if they did, I have 0 trust that it’d stay that way.
Matte ( @Matte@feddit.it ) English18•2 years agoI think they’re in a more sensitive situation this time, compared to the past.
they’re about to submit an IPO, so having a riot in their own service is damaging them economically.
although I’m not really sure the management can actually understand it.
Spitfire ( @Spitfire@pawb.social ) English11•2 years agoI don’t have confidence in their management at all.
borlax ( @borlax@lemmy.borlax.com ) English9•2 years agoC-Levels are normally pretty oblivious to anything that isn’t presented to them in a spreadsheet with lines going up and to the right. “Any publicity is good publicity” - Tone-deaf executives probably
Wander ( @Wander@yiffit.net ) English12•2 years agoEspecially after that AMA that Spez gave.
Spitfire ( @Spitfire@pawb.social ) English12•2 years agoI can’t even call that an AMA. It appeared that he had pre-prepared answers for certain questions, and nothing else.
wbl ( @wbl@beehaw.org ) English7•2 years agoLess of an AMA, more of a AMOTQABMPT. Ask Me Only The Questions Approved By My PR Team (but I still managed to fuck up.)
Wander ( @Wander@yiffit.net ) English2•2 years agoMaybe the questions were prepared as well.
Spitfire ( @Spitfire@pawb.social ) English4•2 years agoI wouldn’t doubt it.
panoptic ( @panoptic@fedia.io ) 2•2 years agoAt one point he posted a response that started with “A:” before editing it to drop the A:
which made it clear he was posting canned answers at the very least
Em Adespoton ( @adespoton@lemmy.ca ) English1•2 years agoOh but you could ask him anything… it just wouldn’t necessarily get answered, or even made visible.
rjc ( @rjc@lemmy.world ) English11•2 years agoLove how the news article cited some random anonymous Reditor.
Metanoia ( @Metanoia@lemmy.world ) English9•2 years agoGetting picked up by NBC seems like a big step. National attention? Jailbait didn’t close until Anderson Cooper picked it up. So I wonder if this changes anything.
HeartyBeast ( @HeartyBeast@fedia.io ) 5•2 years agoIt was all over the BBC this morning
Metanoia ( @Metanoia@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years agoThe more visibility the better.
Em Adespoton ( @adespoton@lemmy.ca ) 2•2 years agoThe truth is, news agencies have leaned heavily on Reddit themselves as they’ve cut costs. So Reddit going down probably affected all the news agencies more than it affected regular people.
