LlamaSutra ( @LlamaSutra@sh.itjust.works ) 7•2 years agoLooks like a Dryads Saddle
Lost_Wanderer ( @Lost_Wanderer@beehaw.org ) 7•2 years agoYep, it does look like pheasant back.
Dee ( @Dee@lemmy.world ) 6•2 years agoIf you’re asking for mushroom identification knowing what region/general area this picture was taken would help narrow down the possible species.
Sorry, its western Quebec. In pine forest
Dee ( @Dee@lemmy.world ) 8•2 years agoIn that case I agree with the other comment that’s saying Dryad’s Saddle/Pheasant Back. It’s a likely candidate based on the cap and region at least.
The new comment that popped up as I typed this saying you should include the underside if possible is also correct. The gills help a lot in identification.
Kalkaline ( @Kalkaline@lemmy.one ) 6•2 years agoAlso a picture of the underside and a cross section can be really helpful too.
Fapper_McFapper ( @Fapper_McFapper@beehaw.org ) 5•2 years agoIt looks like a tree stump with some fungus and moss growing on it. Hope that helped!
Wigglet ( @Wigglet@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoI naturalist is probably better for identification as it has the location option and a heap of fungi connoisseurs waiting to ID
