Noticed a distinct lack of a community for the Bolts, so I went ahead and created one at tampabaylightning@lemmy.world. It got me thinking about other team communities, so I thought it might be helpful to aggregate them all into one post.
EDIT: I fixed the community links, so you should no longer be booted from your instance when clicking them 😉

Just created a Jets community!
Just threw em up there!
- Jetty ( @Jetty@lemmy.world ) 1•2 years ago
Can’t seem to figure out the hyperlink on mobile, so I’ll just leave it as plain text. (It was linking back to this post when I used the hyperlink function in the reply text box)
No worries, I was able to track it down :)
- Thirdnipple79 ( @Thirdnipple79@lemmy.ca ) 7•2 years ago
Awesome. Once we get most of them we can add to the sidebar.
- ewe ( @ewe@lemmy.world ) 7•2 years ago
I’ll create a Kraken one! !seattlekraken@lemmy.world
Added!
- ewe ( @ewe@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years ago
One thing…If you link to the community using the following notation:
c/seattlekraken@lemmy.world
instead of the full
https://lemmy.world/c/seattlekraken
then it will take you to the community, but keep you on your instance (e.g. you are on lemmy.ca, but looking at c/seattlekraken on the lemmy.world instance)
I’d recommend using that in the links instead of the actual link to the instance with the domain in front. I think this only works from posts, not from comments, for whatever reason. It’s weird and I’m still trying to figure it out.
Hmm, I tried it out, but it seems to add a /comments/ string to the URL before the c/seattlekraken@lemmy.world in the link, rendering it unusable. Interestingly enough, the same technique works fine when viewing the post from the main community page (before opening the post to view comments).
- ewe ( @ewe@lemmy.world ) 2•2 years ago
Yeah, I can’t get it to work either. I thought that was the way it was supposed to be, but I’m mistaken, or there’s a bug, which is not unlikely, I suppose :)
- PastaTrees ( @PastaTrees@lemmy.world ) 7•2 years ago
I made one for the devils!
lemmy.world/c/devils
- Thirdnipple79 ( @Thirdnipple79@lemmy.ca ) 7•2 years ago
How is this not the site logo:
- PastaTrees ( @PastaTrees@lemmy.world ) 1•2 years ago
I threw it up there! Nice one
Added!

- snota ( @snota@sh.itjust.works ) 1•2 years ago
I’m having a problem subscribing. It says I’m not logged in :(
- Zamboniman ( @Zamboniman@lemmy.ca ) 3•2 years ago
Yeah, that’s because the direct link takes you to a different server.
Instead, copy the link, and in your instance click on the search icon up top, and do a search for it there. That’ll give you a link relative to your server/instance. Click that and you’re good.
- ewe ( @ewe@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years ago
I think they’re working on it, but this has to get better for Lemmy to take off. There’s so much confusion while trying to share communities.
- Zamboniman ( @Zamboniman@lemmy.ca ) 2•2 years ago
Yup, it’ll be a great thing for new folks trying out Lemmy when this gets sorted out.
- ewe ( @ewe@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years ago
Yep, I’m hoping that post blackout a lot of the people that started new communities will start advertising their community.
I think one thing that could really help would be “official” browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox that turn lemmy links from a instance specific URL to their instance URL automatically so it “just works”
e.g. your browser sees
https://lemmy.world/c/winnipegjets
and it automatically changes it tohttps://{your-defined-instance-domain}/c/winnipegjets@lemmy.world
Until then, we need to get EVERYONE using the right syntax for links like OP did on this post with his updates: e.g.
[Winnipeg Jets](/c/winnipegjets@lemmy.world)
>> Winnipeg Jets- trachemys ( @trachemys@iusearchlinux.fyi ) 3•2 years ago
That style link only works if your instance already has someone subscribed to it. For now, only the search box will cause your instance to learn new communities.
- Undearius ( @Undearius@lemmy.ca ) English3•2 years ago
Try this link. They default to bringing you directly to the instance the community is hosted on. This will bring you to the community from your own instance where you are logged in.
- snota ( @snota@sh.itjust.works ) English1•2 years ago
Thanks that works :)
- Midnight_Ice ( @Midnight_Ice@lemmy.ca ) 6•2 years ago
There’s a Calgary Flames one! https://lemmy.ca/c/calgary_flames
Added!
- Zamboniman ( @Zamboniman@lemmy.ca ) 2•2 years ago
Yup, I created that one just a few days ago! Thanks for noting it!

I’d love a blues
subredditcommunity.Edit: Fixed typo
- iNeedScissors67 ( @iNeedScissors67@kbin.social ) 1•2 years ago
Any idea how to get there on kbin? It’s not showing up in any searches. EDIT: This explained how to do it. https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/19884/For-those-who-might-not-know-Here-is-the-way
- Cold_Brew_Enema ( @Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world ) 1•2 years ago
Thanks!
- MyopicTopic ( @MyopicTopic@lemmy.ml ) 0•2 years ago
Yeah not sure why but lemmy.ml can’t access this community. Would happily hop on there.
- imbrucy ( @imbrucy@lemmy.world ) 1•2 years ago
You should be able to find out now.
In order for a community to show across instances, someone has to search for the full community URL. I have a separate account on Lemmy.ml so I went ahead and did it.
- Thirdnipple79 ( @Thirdnipple79@lemmy.ca ) 1•2 years ago
Start one up!
- Cold_Brew_Enema ( @Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world ) 2•2 years ago
If I do that doesn’t it make me a moderator? I unfortunately do not have time to moderate
- Thirdnipple79 ( @Thirdnipple79@lemmy.ca ) 2•2 years ago
Fair enough. I think it would make you a mod by default. Not that there’s too much to do when the community is small, but if you are busy I get not wanting to add commitments.
- limelight79 ( @limelight79@lemm.ee ) 4•1 year ago
Gah, this is the kind of thing that kills adoption. I can browse to the Caps community on https://lemmy.world, no problem. I see other lemmy.world communities on lemm.ee that I’m using and subscribed to. But I cannot get caps@lemmy.world to show up in the app or in search on the website. I tried another team community (I forget which) and had the same experience. But I’ve been able to add other lemmy.world communities to my subscriptions, and I know they work. Lemmy.world is listed as linked on lemm.ee, and vice versa. Basically everything says it should be working, but it isn’t, so it’s probably just some temporary issue.
I know once the server ‘finds’ it the first time, it should work fine, but right now it’s just frustrating - and I’m pretty patient.
Edit: Got it. Apparently I had to hit “next”.
- _noncomposmentis ( @_noncomposmentis@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years ago
I have no idea what I’m doing but I managed to make one for the San Jose Sharks https://fanaticus.social/c/sanjosesharks
It is done
- socphoenix ( @socphoenix@midwest.social ) 4•2 years ago
Created one for the Flyers, /c/flyers@midwest.social
Just added it to the list :)
- MiddleWeigh ( @MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world ) 4•2 years ago
Flyers plz
- socphoenix ( @socphoenix@midwest.social ) 3•2 years ago
Done! https://midwest.social/c/flyers I know I’m on midwest.social so kinda not fitting but lemmy/beehaw were crushed and I couldn’t hardly get a connection when I created an account lol.
- MiddleWeigh ( @MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world ) 2•2 years ago
Thanks! Yea we had a crazy influx over here on lemmy.world, but so far the admin seems like he knows what he’s doing and is making the necessary upgrades.
- DarkSpoon ( @DarkSpoon@lemm.ee ) 4•1 year ago
There’s https://lemmy.ml/c/coloradoavalanche but I can’t get subbed to it. Just says sub pending. If anyone has an alternate let me know!
Edit: They moved !avalanche@lemmy.world
Just added them! I suspect the sub pending may have something to do with the lemmy.ml servers being crushed right now, as I haven’t run into that until today.
- DarkSpoon ( @DarkSpoon@lemm.ee ) 3•2 years ago
I suspect that as well but it’s the only community I’ve had issues with the past couple days there. We’ll see!
- DarkSpoon ( @DarkSpoon@lemm.ee ) 2•1 year ago
They moved to lemmy.world recently. Should probably update the list: !avalanche@lemmy.world
Thanks for maintaining this list!
- jawsua ( @jawsua@lemmy.one ) 1•1 year ago
If anyone has the same issue, try hitting the Pending button again to stop the request and then JUST ONCE to get it to request again. You might need to do it a couple of times, but you should be able to get in eventually, like I did
- jawsua ( @jawsua@lemmy.one ) 1•1 year ago
Welp, looks like that one’s dead. Unless I’m doing something wrong
- DarkSpoon ( @DarkSpoon@lemm.ee ) 2•1 year ago
Looks like they moved over to lemmy.world !avalanche@lemmy.world
- jawsua ( @jawsua@lemmy.one ) 2•1 year ago
Thanks, subbed
- Dekkzz :emacs: ( @dekkzz76@emacs.ch ) 1•1 year ago
the redwings ones dead too
- GordieHowesThumb ( @GordieHowesThumb@midwest.social ) 3•2 years ago
I just made one for Detroit
Detroit has joined the party.
- PacketGain ( @PacketGain@sh.itjust.works ) 3•2 years ago
I would create an Anaheim Ducks one, but I feel like it wouldn’t do well on a Canadian instance.
- navydevildoc ( @navydevildoc@sh.itjust.works ) 1•2 years ago
Plus it would be nothing but depression. But to be honest I don’t think the location of the instance matters too much…
- PacketGain ( @PacketGain@sh.itjust.works ) 1•2 years ago
Plus it would be nothing but depression.
Ouch!
- navydevildoc ( @navydevildoc@sh.itjust.works ) 2•2 years ago
I am still bitter about the draft. Maybe I won’t hate the league as much when October rolls around…
