My first post on Lemmy!
Anything to do with garage doors, except for painting and oiling. Garage door springs are not something to mess around with. When the door is closed, the springs have an enormous amount of energy stored and can send metal shards easily through walls and people.
I will do electrical, plumbing, drywall (I hate mudding), framing, you name it. I will NOT mess with garage door springs.
Anytime you have to do significant demolition work involving an older home, if you are even remotely unsure of whether there are asbestos or lead paint in any of the building materials.
Or if you are doing demolition work on concrete in a closed location.
Plumbing and electricity were always easy for me, but if you fail, you’ll pay much more to fix consequences.
any good resources/guides you can recommend? I need to design and install a plumbing system soon in my diy rv - same for electrical but that looks easier.
Idk, was fixing wiring with my father to learn some basics. And helped a plumber, who was replacing pipes completely at 2 of apartments where I’ve lived.
I think, there’s a lot of youtube videos to do that. I was watching ones on my native language.
yeah, videos are a great resource. pex tubing looks a hell of a lot easier to use than pvc and that weird purple sealant.
Anything electric has always intimidated me. It’s expensive but I always just hire an electrician and save myself the stress
I had someone walk me through simple things like changing out light switches or light fixtures, but I won’t go beyond that. That still even makes me nervous sometimes.
A multimeter and an ugly’s electrical book(or internet diagrams) are helpful.
