So it’s just regular ol’ price gouging going on at this point? Got it.
How so? Prices have mostly now stopped increasing or started going down.

Producer prices stopped rising a while ago, and consumer prices are beginning to follow. This is routine & predictable. Was there some price gouging? Of course. That’s routine & predictable too.

If we arent in one we soon will be. After all, cooling the economy is what rate hikes does. Some businesses close which puts people out of work so they cut back on spending and the cycle continues. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/are-we-in-a-recession/

The economy can cool without there being a recession. Decrease GDP growth, reduce job vacancies, etc.
