Just to preface for everyone, the app has only been in development for a little over a month and is very barebones. Don’t expect even some of the most basic features out the gate and frequent crashes. It will be interesting to see how it matures and develops over time.

I’m testing Mlem and Memmy, so far I am preferring Memmy for stability and a slightly better UX.

Memmy
Do you have a link to Memmy? I’ve not come across it in my searches.

Another advantage of Memmy is that its icon isn’t a cartoon koala ahegao face.

I cannot seem to search for subs on Mlem? What am I doing wrong?

It works the same as Apollo. You have to tap the text at the very top of the screen (be it the current community name, “All Posts”, “Subscribed”, etc.) and then you should be able to search for any communities tracked in the cache of your instance.

I just had to check. I don’t think I’ve ever once used that search in Apollo. The reason it’s unintuitive in mlem is that in Apollo it automatically brings up the keyboard and places the text insertion cursor. In mlem, it takes an extra tap with no ui indication.

That’s a detail I agree should be added. On the other hand, the whole concept is, I believe, compliant and recommended by Apple’s official HIG.

I’ve been using it happily since making the switch. It certainly has a ways to go to be complete and bug-free, but it’s a fantastic start!
