People who say left unity is a possibility are as dumb as a box of stumps. It’s always interesting going to a tankie place and seeing people with lgbt flair talk up Putin, as if they wouldn’t be shot on sight.
I can’t understand the queer tankies. Like, do they believe that an explicitly authoritarian regime would suddenly have no need for a maginalized minority to target? Do they believe that they will somehow become the minorty group in power and will be able to target other groups? Or is just like lgbt cons who hope to be “One of the good ones”?
Tankies are almost exclusively western white people who have never in their life experienced living under an authoritarian communist regime. This includes queer tankies.
Parents grew up under authoritarian communism. Their stance is and always has been “social programs rocked, being under that government sucked”. No amount of decent living standards will ever make up for the possibility of imprisonment because you disobeyed the ruling party (and disobeying included things like having the wrong haircut, let alone the wrong gender identity).
The colour of the uniform is unimportant. The literature is unimportant. The slogans are unimportant. The leader is unimportant. At the end of the day, you’ll still be stuck with a police state telling you how to dress, how to act, how to think, fascist or communist.
It’s the same “pick-me” behavior we see with Blaire White and Candace Owens. They either truly think they will be seen as one of the good ones, or they don’t care and just want the power and money that comes with being the token.
Left unity is fine. Tankies are leftists in name only.
