There are so many amazing indie games out there, but some of them stand out as must-play experiences. What are your favorite indie games of all time?
hakase ( @hakase@lemmy.ml ) English7•1 year agoSubnautica. One of the best experiences I’ve had in gaming.
Outer Wilds. One of the most creative and thought-provoking games I’ve played. Definitely go into this one knowing as little as possible about it.
Hollow Knight also deserves a spot here, but personally I preferred Salt and Sanctuary.
Landrin201 ( @Landrin201@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 year agoOuter wilds is ridiculously good, it’s such a crazy unique experience. But you have to go in without spoilers, it’s not nearly as fun if you know where things are.
gnuhaut ( @gnuhaut@lemmy.ml ) English3•1 year agoFTL, Into the Breach, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Banished
Lilium ( @Metallinatus@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year agoThere is this little hidden gem called The Witcher 3.
Ok, real answer: To the Moon and Doki Doki Literature Club are two indies that really left a mark on me, specifically the former. Both games are fantastic.
IntangibleSloth ( @IntangibleSloth@lemmy.world ) English2•1 year agoMy partner and I loved playing Plate Up! We’ve also played Overcooked 1 & 2, but spent more time playing Plate Up!.
nigelinux ( @nigelinux@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 year agoUpvoted, we had so much fun with PlateUp! I think we also have more playing time for PlateUp than for Overcooked 1 & 2 combined (both completed). I love the roguelike element in it and building our own restaurant.
datendefekt ( @datendefekt@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year agoThe games that stuck with me are (in no special order) Paradise Killer, Sable, Disco Elysium, Gris and of course What remains of Edith Finch.
xevilia ( @xevilia@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year agoStardew Valley
jimmy ( @jimmy@lemmy.one ) English2•1 year agoDisco Elysium blew me away with the writing, absolutely a must-play.
jellos_jigglin ( @jellos_jigglin@reddthat.com ) English1•1 year agoFactorio has been my crack-torio for many years. Satisfactory may have better graphics, but I prefer the simplicity and depth of Factorio.
vis4valentine ( @vis4valentine@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 year agoGone Home.
Celeste.
Most of Pokemon fan games (my boyfriend loves fangames)
Varyag ( @Varyag@beehaw.org ) English1•1 year agoHmm, depends a lot on what kind of game you like. Just off the top of my head I can think of a few, but they are mostly metroidvanias and roguelikes (and hybrids of the two) that I personally enjoy.
Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Hades, Bloodstained:Curse of the Moon, stuff like that. WallCactus ( @WallCactus@lemmy.world ) English1•1 year agoSubnautica
Tunic
The Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2 (I’ve convinced 0 people to try these)
Subnautica is horror in its most subtle form.
"Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region. Are you certain whatever you’re doing is worth it?”
furies ( @furies@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English1•1 year agoOh disco elysium for sure. Fantastic crpg.
NineSwords ( @NineSwords@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 year agoI usually only play the large bombast blockbuster titles, but Actual Sunshine did leave me speechless.
We will need a topic for the AAAs as well. 🙂
Do you mean Actual Sunlight?
NineSwords ( @NineSwords@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year agoYes. My bad on the name. It’s been a couple of years.
CorrodedCranium ( @CorrodedCranium@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English1•1 year agoGris. Gorgeous visuals and stress-free gameplay
Not incredibly long either
Gert ( @Gert@beehaw.org ) English1•1 year agoOnes that come to mind are Crosscode and Chained Echoes. I really enjoyed both of them.
