I am looking for a good FOSS keyboard with suggestions and the ability to add multiple languages.
catboss ( @catboss@feddit.de ) 7•2 years agoI use OpenBoard most of the time and it’s good if you are more privacy focused.
loadsas ( @loadsas@feddit.de ) 1•2 years agoIs it possible with this keyboard to swipe instead of type?
La Scimmia di Mare ( @MadMonkey@feddit.it ) 1•2 years agoNo, it’s not possible by now
Jomn ( @Jomn@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoSame here. It works well, and it actually was the only FOSS keyboard for which I managed to properly set up a Bépo layout like I wanted.
bigoofn ( @bigoofn@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoSame. Except i had to modify it a little bit because I got used to Swift keyboard having suggestions on inputs that don’t support it by default.
musaoruc ( @musaoruc@lemmy.ml ) 4•2 years agoI use AnySoft Keyboard. It is very configurable and has a lot of language options.
loadsas ( @loadsas@feddit.de ) 2•2 years agoI use https://github.com/rkkr/simple-keyboard because it has the features “hold space and swipe to move cursor” and “hold backspace and swipe to delete”. You can add different languages. Which Android do you use? I’m curious because doesn’t any keyboard (android) allow you to switch languages?
Blastboom Strice ( @BlastboomStrice@mander.xyz ) 1•2 years agoI’d probably use it already if it supported emojies…
I am on Android 13. Thanks I’ll give it a try!
thisn ( @thisn@feddit.de ) 1•2 years ago+1 for simple-keyboard
Another one that i use is Florisboard. It also supporta hold space and hold backspace. Additionally you can customize the layout and glide typing is available for english
Fisch ( @Fisch@lemmy.ml ) 2•2 years agoI use FlorisBoard
jumanjimanju ( @jumanjimanju@lemmy.ml ) 2•2 years agoSecond this. Tried a lot of keyboards when moving over to foss, and this one felt hands down the best for me.
Crabhands ( @Crabhands@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoVanilla GrapheneOS keyboard as per their guide.
Random_Character_A ( @random_character_a@lemmy.one ) 1•2 years agoJust the other day I discovered 8Vim and I’m exited to learn how to use it. It’s a little buggy and it doesn’t seem to support umlaut letters, so I can’t use it for my native language.
Others I use are Hackers keyboard (for SSH), Anysoft, and Jbak. Not sure if the last one is FOSS.
